Rookie group STAYC was the recent group to take part in the "transonglation" challenge of Rolling in K-Pop in which the members sang in three different languages.
On Dec. 12, Rolling in K-Pop uploaded the video of STAYC's transonglation challenge. Yoon and J were assigned to sing in Tagalog, Sieun and Seeun in Indonesian, and Sumin and Isa in Vietnamese.
Before the challenge kicked off, STAYC members did a warm-up in which they practiced singing in their designated languages. Afterward, the real match began. The girl group sang their debut song "So Bad" with some parts translated into Tagalog, Indonesian, and Vietnamese. The members showcased their vocals as they sing their lines in the track, while the language changed from time to time.
Prior to this, STAYC has recently amazed fans and netizens when the "music-recording (MR) removed" video of the group's performance in Music Bank was released. The video clearly unveils the live vocal and rap parts of the members, making the viewers impressed at how well they delivered their debut single "So Bad" considering that they are merely rookies.
STAYC, a six-member girl group formed by High Up Entertainment, has been achieving outstanding accomplishments even if they just made their debut last month. The girl group's debut album titled "Star To A Young Culture" was launched On Nov. 12, and thirteen days after the album's title track "So Bad" secured a spot on the United States' Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart.
In particular, the song claimed the No. 21 spot, showing how the female act has gained the attention of K-Pop fans in the United States.
Aside from that, STAYC has set an impressive feat with their debut. This year, the sextet became the first rookie girl group to reach more than 10,000 album sales on Hanteo Chart only a week after it was released. Based on the Initial Chodong sales data, there were over 4,300 sales on the first day, making "Star To A Young Culture" the highest-selling debut album on the first day for any 2020 girl group.
Furthermore, STAYC is the only 2020 rookie girl group to make it into real-time charts of major music sites such as Bugs and Genie following the launch of the title track "So Bad." Also, the term "STAYC" continued to rank first on the portal site's real-time search ranking. Since then, the views of the music shows featuring STAYC have been higher each time, including the group's "Music Bank" performance which gained 130,000 views.
Considering all of these amazing achievements, STAYC has been included in the ranking of girl group brand reputation for December, particularly in the Top 10. The band came in at No. 8, making them one of the three 2020 rookie groups to enter the ranking, the others are aespa and woo!ah!.
Meanwhile, STAYC is one of the nominees under two categories in the 30th Seoul Music Awards, specifically under the Rookie of the Year and Popularity Award.
