BTS Updates Fans on Suga's Condition since Undergoing Shoulder Surgery

BTS has shared an update regarding band member Suga's condition since he underwent shoulder surgery earlier in November.

Last Nov. 6, Big Hit announced that BTS's Suga received surgery to repair his torn shoulder labrum on Nov. 3. The label also stated that the singer decided to undergo such operation in preparation for his mandatory military service and future activities. Following Big Hit's announcement, Suga wrote a letter to fans on Weverse, stating that his shoulder injury gets worse whenever he performs and so he was advised to have surgery.

Almost two weeks after his shoulder surgery, the rapper held a live broadcast via V Live and talked about his current condition, saying that he's doing a lot better. He also stated that he has been sleeping well recently unlike the first three days after the surgery when he couldn't sleep because of too much pain. Moreover, Suga shared that while he is recovering, he is studying English and working on music.

Then, on Dec. 12, BTS gave an update about Suga's condition. The boy group recently appeared as guests on iHeartRadio's "Most Requested Live Ask Anything Chat with Romeo" where they answered several questions from fans and one of those was "How's Yoongi doing?"

BTS's RM answered first, "Do you know 'sim sim' (Korean term for 'bored'). He can't even work on anything because his arm hurts." Jin added that Suga told them that he's not doing anything and that he's just lying in bed. J-Hope then said that Suga keeps on saying that he wants to get back to work. "He wants to get back in the swing of things so he's been working hard to recover," he continued.

Jin also revealed that Suga sent him a video message on his birthday in which he expressed his love for the members.

Since the release of their fifth Korean studio album titled "Be" on Nov. 20, BTS has been promoting the album as a six-member group after Suga's shoulder surgery. The boy group has also been attending awards ceremony as a sextet, but then, BTS recently brought a picture of Suga at 2020 The Fact Music Awards, showing that they are always seven despite a member being absent.

Other than that, keywords related to BTS's Suga trended during the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) last Dec. 6 as he surprised fans with his appearance for the "Life Goes On" performance. Mnet used a hologram of Suga during his part in the song, making him look like he was really on stage. He also delivered a speech when BTS's acceptance speech for the "Album of the Year" award.

Furthermore, BTS's Suga made history as he becomes the very first artist to win MAMA's "Best Collaboration" award several times. This year, "Eight" by IU (produced by and featuring Suga) earned the "Best Collaboration" at this year's MAMA. Last year, he won the same recognition for his collaboration with Lee Sora on the track titled "Song Request" - the first 2019 song to achieve a real-time all kill.
