EXO Xiumin Reveals the Song He Listened to the Most during His Military Service

During his first live broadcast since military discharge, EXO's Xiumin has shared that one song that he listened to the most when he was carrying out his military duties.

On Dec. 6, EXO's oldest member Xiumin has officially discharged from the military after 19 months since he enlisted last May 7, 2019. He took his final leave this past November and directly went home without dropping by the army base due to the COVID-19 prevention measures.

Recently, EXO's Xiumin held a live broadcast "Let It XIUnow," which is the first time following his military discharge and his first time greeting EXO-Ls (EXO's fan club) after more than a year. During the livestream, he read some comments from fans and he also answered five random questions given by the fans. The first question was, "What is the song that you listened to the most during the military service?"

After a short silence, Xiumin answered, "Actually, our song. 'Obsession' gave me a lot of energy. Even though D.O. and I were absent, I saw the stage and I really wanted to be on the stage together. I asked them, partly as a joke, to find X-XIUMIN."

The idol added that he was envious of the rest of the EXO members performing and that he wanted to join them on stage. He also stated that while he was listening to "Obsession," he thought that he should listen to it many times, as well as practice the dance steps as he would join the rest of EXO members one day in delivering the song.

A follow-up question for this was, "What do you think X-XIUMIN would be if you did 'Obsession' together?" "Well, I have no idea," he answered with a smile. "You also want to see X-Xiumin, don't you? Me either. Maybe X-Xiumin would show up someday," he further stated.

EXO's "Obsession" was released in November 2019, which is when Xiumin was already an active-duty soldier. It is the title track of the boy group's sixth full album that shares the same name as the song. "Obsession" is described as a hip hop dance song that displays EXO's dark charisma. The single and even the entire album depicts the different emotions, including obsession, which arise from EXO and X-EXO's intense clash. X-EXO is said to be a group of evil clones of the EXO members that are fighting against them for the benefit of the Red Forces.

"Obsession" is the first album of EXO that featured a six-member lineup as Xiumin and D.O. already enlisted in the military, while Lay didn't take part as he was promoting in China at that time and even to date. The boy band performed several songs from the album through "EXO Planet 5 - ExplOration [dot] encore stages back in December 2019.

In addition, "Obsession" is the last album EXO released before the members focused on promoting as solo artists and units. Suho and Kai made their solo debut, Baekhyun continued to launch solo singles and albums, while EXO-SC (Sehun and Chanyeol) issued its first full-length album titled "1 Billion Views." Meanwhile, Chen enlisted in the military this past October.
