K-Pop's baddest female CL turned out to the reference used for the character named Jett from the video game Valorant.
Recently, a tutorial video featuring Esben Rasmussen was uploaded on Proko, a YouTube channel where good art instruction videos are posted. Esben Rasmussen is a senior illustrator for Riot Games, an American video game developer, publisher, and organizer of an esports tournament. The company is best known for numerous games such as League of Legends, Teamflight Tactics, and Valorant.
Titled "Analyzing and Copying an Art Style with Esben Rasmussen," the tutorial video is about the process of reviewing design sensibilities and applying those to a modern character. Esben began by sharing that there have to be different references before creating a character. He then talked about the character Jett from the video game Valorant. He revealed that Jett is Korean so he gathered references of Korean females who would resemble what Jett would look like.
In the collection of photos shown on the screen, the majority of pics display solo artist CL, together with a few images of actress Claudia Kim. The illustrator mentioned the winged makeup and high cheekbones from CL, which are very important elements and must be included in developing the character.
Valorant is a free-to-play multiplayer tactical first-person hero shooter that was only released this past June. The video game's characters are based on numerous countries and cultures around the world. There are currently twelve characters or "agents" in the game, and one of those is a female called Jett, which turned out to be created with K-Pop soloist CL as the reference.
In other news, CL is currently making preparations for her new album titled "ALPHA," which is rescheduled to be released next year. According to the idol, she is considering more ideas and opportunities in the process of creating "ALPHA," hence she decided to postpone the album's official launch. Although, the release date is yet to be announced. "ALPHA" is CL's very first studio album following his departure from YG Entertainment.
Ahead of her album preparations, CL launched the music video for the track "Post Up," which serves as the intro song for her upcoming album. The artist said that the single is her way to express her gratitude to the fans who have always believed in her and waited for her return to the K-Pop scene.
This past October, the idol released two tracks called "HWA" and "5 STAR," which were both co-written by her former labelmate Tablo. CL also took part in writing the lyrics of the latter song, which is about love. Together with the singles, the singer dropped a dance performance video for "HWA" and a visualizer for "5 STAR."
In addition, CL premiered her comeback song "HWA" on Oct. 29 on the popular American late-night talk show called "The Late Late Show with James Corden." The soloist made her comeback with an outstanding performance of the song recorded at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul.
