The lineup for the upcoming 2020 KBS Song Festival "Gayo Daechukje" has been unveiled, and it includes numerous major K-Pop groups.
The KBS Song Festival, also known as KBS "Gayo Daechukje," is a South Korean music show hosted by the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) that takes place at the end of every year. It first aired in 1965 as an awards show but the awards ceremony was ceased in 2006. However, awards were given in 2013.
This year, the annual music festival is expected to have no live audience due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic. Also, it was announced that Shin Ye Eun, ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo, and TVXQ's Yunho will serve as hosts for the show. And recently, KBS has revealed what seems to be the full lineup of the event, consisting of K-Pop stars who shined this year.
The first lineup that was previously disclosed includes South Korean pop groups such as BTS, SEVENTEEN, NCT, and TWICE. SHINee's Taemin, ballad singer Paul Kim, as well as trot singers Kim Yeon Ja and Seol Woon Do, were also confirmed to perform at the music show.
On top of that, the music festival will feature a shared stage of J.Y. Park and Sunmi, who previously released a collaboration single titled "When We Disco." Viewers can also expect a joint performance by GOT7's Jackson Wang and P Nation's rapper Jessi.
And then recently, the 2020 KBS Song Festival's official website has shared more artists who will be taking the stage at the event. The new list includes K-Pop boy bands NU'EST, MONSTA X, The Boyz, ASTRO, Stray Kids, and TXT. It was previously revealed that GOT7's Jackson will attend the show, and now it was unveiled that all GOT7 members will be there as well.
The other K-Pop girl groups who will join TWICE in the upcoming festival are MAMAMOO, GFRIEND, IZ*ONE, MOMOLAND, (G)I-DLE, Oh My Girl, and ITZY. Apart from them, 2020 KBS Gayo Daechukje will also have performances by rookie groups, particularly ENHYPEN and aespa.
Going with the motto, "We are connected with music," the 2020 KBS Song Festival: CONNECT will be available on Viki and will be held on Dec. 18 at 8:30 p.m. KST. In addition, it will be broadcast from the KBS channel, and global fans can watch the event from the livestream of YouTube channels, KBS World and KBS World Indonesia. Ahead of the main event, a live talk show and photo wall event will be aired from 7 p.m. KST.
At the music festival, performing artists are expected to deliver the songs they released this year. In particular, BTS will likely perform some of their B-side tracks together with hit songs like "Dynamite" and "Life Goes On." SEVENTEEN may also perform "Left & Right" and "HOME;RUN," while TWICE will probably be singing "I Can't Stop Me," although some fans might be hoping to see the group perform "Cry For Me" once again.
Meanwhile, rookie groups aespa and ENHYPEN will most likely to sing their debut singles "Black Mamba" and "Given-Taken," respectively.
Don't miss out on the 2020 KBS Song Festival "Gayo Daechukje" on Dec. 18 at 8:30 p.m. KST!
