While groups from the newer generation and those who came from small entertainment companies also showcased their rising influence and skyrocketing global fandom as they were listed, too.

According to K-pop Charts, BTS came as first for idol groups with most streams, gaining a cumulative 9.2 billion streams.
The global group proved their influence and power around the world following their two recent tracks, "Dynamite," and "Life Goes On," which received massive support from music fans, particularly from ARMYs (BTS fandom).
They were then followed by EXO, who earned 7.7 billion streams. Though the gap between first place and second place is huge, the "Nation's Pick" group showed their stable popularity, despite having no album release this year as a whole group.
Currently, three members including D.O, Suho, and Chen are serving in the military.
As for the third place, Wanna One, a project group that debuted in 2017 through MNET's "Produce 100" amazingly claimed the spot with 2.9 billion streams. The members are now taking on their own as solo artists and some already debuted in each respective group. Meanwhile, other members chose to be an actor.
BIGBANG, which is deemed as "Kings of K-pop" is still slaying the MelOn charts despite having no comebacks and new songs for several years. In particular, the icons' last comeback was in 2018, and though they were actually set to return this 2020 through a Coachella performance, the music festival was cancelled due to pandemic.
For fifth place, TWICE prevailed in the rankings. TWICE is one of the biggest female groups that showcased an exciting year this 2020 amidst the pandemic, dropping various releases.
The "Asia's No.1 Girl Group" amazed the music industry with their two albums, "More and More" and "Wide Eyes Open." This introduces their bop songs "More and More" and "I Can't Stop Me," and it was also expected that they will then surprise fans with another track, "Cry For Me" this Dec. 18.
