BLACKPINK Canceled 'The Show' Virtual Concert
On Thursday, BLACKPINK announced with deep sadness that they would need more time for their online concert. Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rose decided to postpone the virtual event to comply with the South Korean government's stricter health regulations against the COVID-19 after the country recorded a high number of cases lately.
Jisoo, in a clip shared on BLACKPINK's official Twitter page, revealed that "The Show" was moved to Jan. 31 from the original Dec. 27. Lisa, then shared they want to give BLINKS a feeling of hope and comfort during these challenging times and amid the perils brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rose explained that the group wants to prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved with the show - the backup dancers, production crew, and fans. Hence, they want to make sure that everything is in order when they hold "The Show" virtual concert.
Jennie concluded the video by expressing gratefulness and thanking all the medical workers and front-liners who sacrificed their time and lives to make sure that their local community is safe from the fatal coronavirus.
BLACKPINK's cancellation news came just a few days after the Korea Control and Prevention Agency revealed that there had been a total of 1,078 new COVID-19 cases in the country, which is the highest tally recorded since the start of the pandemic. So far, there have been six K-Pop idols who were infected by the virus, including Kim Chungha, Yiren, and Sihyeon from the girl group Everglow, and Xiao, Kogyeol, and Bitto from the all-make band Up10tion.
For starters, BLACKPINK made waves in the music scene with their debut single "Boombayah," followed by "Ddu-Du-Ddu-Du," "Whistle," "As If It's Your Last," "Lovesick Girls" and "Playing with Fire." All the music videos of these tracks became a huge hit as it garnered hundreds of million views on YouTube. Add to that the fan favorites "How You Like That" and "Kill This Love," which showed how the foursome has grown into its own.
