Red Velvet Yeri Gifts Fans with Self-Composed Track 'These Days'

Red Velvet's Yeri has released a new song as part of her ongoing Dum Dum Studio playlist series on YouTube. The newly-launched single is said to be written by the artist.

Red Velvet's Yeri has been releasing comforting songs for her ongoing playlist series that is being uploaded on the Dumdum Studio YouTube channel. It is said that the playlist consists of nine tracks, which serve as presents for the fans. She previously shared covers of Baek Yerin's "Bunny," Lauv's "Modern Loneliness," Sasha Sloan's "Dancing with Your Ghost," and Mae Muller's "Anticlimax."

Yeri also sang the acoustic version of Red Velvet's "Bad Boy." And, the latest one is the sixth song or "Music Gift #6" that is titled "These Days."

"These Days" is written by Red Velvet's Yeri, and it marked the idol's first live performance of one of her self-composed singles.

While "These Days" was recently dropped as the sixth track for her Dum Dum Studio playlist series, the song was technically revealed last September through "Yerihan Music Show," which is a segment of her YouTube show called "Yeri's Room."

In episode 16-2 of "Yeri's Room," she mentioned that the lyrics of "These Days" are based on what she has been thinking these days. In particular, she was working on it while thinking about her fellow Red Velvet member Wendy, who is currently recovering from her previous accident. Yeri, in fact, told Wendy about it and shared that she loved it.

In that episode, Red Velvet's Yeri also shared that she wrote many songs. She mentioned that after her 2019 song "Dear Diary," which was released as part of SM Station, she would like to launch "These Days" as she wanted to show much she has grown in a completely different style.

Orori or Suhyeon, the musician who worked with Red Velvet's Yeri in creating "These Days," commented that the idol judges her own music from an objective point of view. He also said that it's not easy to be like that at a young age and that people that young usually try to be fancy and don't objectively fix their songs. "It's really not easy to work in a productive way at that age, and I saw that from her," Orori said.

Meanwhile, the latest episode of "Yeri's Room" featured former 2NE1 member Sandara Park, who joined Red Velvet's Yeri for a meal at the café of SM Entertainment. But ahead of that, Yeri became an SM guide to tour Sandara around the said agency. The two visited SM Town & Store and checked out the official merchandise of all the artists under the label.

Not to mention, Park was supposed to buy an EXO or SuperM merchandise for her close friends, specifically an ice tray, however, it was sold out that day. She then ended up buying a backpack and keychain of EXO's Kai, who is a bias of one of her close friends. Additionally, Sandara purchased adorable stickers and tapes of Red Velvet, as well as a bag.
