SM Entertainment girl group Aespa sparked attention for their strange styling during the red carpet of the "2020 KBS Gayo Daechukje." Keep on reading to learn more.
On the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 18, Aespa appeared at the "2020 KBS Gayo Daechukje" red carpet photo wall event. Members Giselle, Winter, Karina, and Ningning appeared on the red carpet, and the event was live-streamed on YouTube.
When viewers saw the outfits Aespa was wearing during the red carpet, numerous real-time viewers shared posts to various online community forums, talking about how shocking the girl group's outfits are, as well as how messy and uncoordinated they looked.
Member Giselle was seen wearing a nude suit, with an oversized blazer and fitted trousers. She is seen wearing a simple white top under her blazer. She is also seen with a large gold chain necklace with matching gold earrings. At her first glance, she looks barefoot, but she is actually wearing transparent heels.
Winter was seen wearing a body-hugging white sleeveless dress. Her dress appears to be made from dozens of satin ribbon cuts and is accessorized with a silver chain necklace and gold earrings. She is also seen with beige straps around her arm, though it is not sure what it is for. To match her dress, Winer is seen wearing white sandals.
Karina's top is similar to Winter's dress. Her top is black and is comprised of satin ribbon cut. Unlike Winer, however, Karina is seen wearing a long, black skirt at the bottom. The most unusual point of Karina's outfit is her belt - it is made up of numerous locks!
Finally, maknae (youngest member) Ningning was seen wearing fitted trousers and a white halter top. The bottom of her white halter top was tied into a big know, which was seen dangling down to the floor. Ningning is seen wearing gold earrings and black heels.

Many people were upset with Aespa's styling. Some people said that when the members stand side-by-side with each other, it looks like they are from four different groups. Some even joked that they looked like four different people who just met! Many fans also said that the members had looked better styling themselves than when a professional stylist styles them.
However, some people had said that individually, their outfits do look nice. It just did not match a girl group!
After doing some digging, one fan had noticed that there actually is a connection between the mismatched look. Someone had shared to the online community forum that all the girls' outfits are from the same designer brand - Givenchy.
All of the outfits are part of the latest Givenchy Spring-Summer 2021 collection designed by designer Matthew M. Williams. Despite how uncoordinated Aespa's outfits are, they are designed to be in the same collection and are based on similar themes and influences. According to fashion experts, it is a fusion of retro, club-kid, and streetwear styles and highlights hardware.
The full Givenchy is not yet available to the public. The clothing will hit Givenchy stores both online and offline in Feb. 2021. Because of this, it is speculated that the brand had sent Aespa the outfits directly. Some have said that because such a renowned brand had sent them their outfits, they can overlook the strange styling. After all, it says a lot about Aespa's popularity. They only debuted a month ago, and a major fashion house has already noticed them!
However, some had stated that they still could have been styled in a way that is flattering for them and making them look like a cohesive group.
What do you think of their styling?
