Following reports that BTOB member Jung Ilhoon is currently under investigation concerning the purchase and habitual usage of marijuana have uncovered how much he spent on the drug. Keep on reading to learn more.

On Monday, Dec. 21, it was reported Jung Ilhoon was being investigated for purchasing and habitually using marijuana as early as 2016 and as recent as last year. The case was first sent to the prosecution back in July, five months ago.

Reports have also stated that traces of the drug was detected via hair samples through a drug test. It was reported that Jung Ilhoon had admitted that he habitually smoked marijuana during the police investigation. Police became aware of his usage of the drug after arresting a group of people who traded virtual currency for drugs last year. One of the people they had apprehended had revealed to the police Jung Ilhoon had purchased drugs for a reduced sentence.

It was further revealed that Jung Ilhoon had deposited cash through an acquaintance through a borrowed-named account. The acquaintance would then convert the cash to cryptocurrency, also known as virtual currency, to buy marijuana and then distribute it back to Jung Ilhoon. After investigating the transaction details, it was revealed that Jung Ilhoon had spent around ₩100,000,000 KRW (approximately $90,952.09 USD, according to the current exchange rate as of Tuesday, Dec. 12).

The idol's transaction details were revealed to the police during the account tracking process.

After the initial report concerning Jung Ilhoon and his drug usage came out, CUBE Entertainment released a statement claiming they were unaware of the BTOB member's situation and smoking marijuana. However, CUBE Entertainment did mention that his enlistment was originally scheduled for March but was delayed not because of the police investigation or his drug usage but because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Curently, Jung Ilhoon is working as a social service worker in Yangpyeon. He entered the military training center back on May 8 and underwent four weeks of basic army training.

A source close to the idol has revealed to numerous media outlets that Jung Ilhoon acnowledges the marijuana charges against him and is deeply reflecting on his actions. He also feels immense shame and guilt for the damage he has brought to his group, BTOB, and is apologetic to them.

CUBE Entertainment also released a follow-up statement saying that after checking with Jung Ilhoon themselves, they can confirm that he was summoned by the police on suspicion of purchasing and habitually smoking marijuana, as the reports have stated. The company stated that they feel a heavy responsibility for causing so many people to feel concerned over the situation. They ensured the public that they would do honestly and dutifully participate in future investigations until the end.
