MONSTA X has definitely made 2020 their year - earning praise and recognition from media outlets around the world for their work.
The Starship Entertainment boy group first made its presence known in the Billboard's Year-End with its first English language album, "ALL ABOUT LUV," released as the group's Valentine's Day offering. Since its February release, the MONSTA X album has immediately skyrocketed and debuted at the fifth spot of the US Billboard 200 album charts. It has also secured the 84th spot in the year-end's "Top Album Sales" and 53rd at the "Top Current Album Sales."
MONSTA X also secured 11th place for the "Social 50" rankings - taken from the artists' global social media presence - displaying the power of their MONBEBE, the group's official fanbase.
Additionally, US fashion and lifestyle magazine Teen Vogue also included MONSTA X in "The Best K-Pop Moments of 2020." Erica Gerald Mason, writing for the teen-oriented periodical, shared how MONSTA X made everyone "the Best Kind of Anxious with 'Love Killa.'" With the group's return with "Fatal Love," and its lead single "Love Killa," Mason cites how the concept "play with the crew's bad-boy reputation" with its homage to some of the grittiest pop culture icons.

"In these uncertain times, the world needs more MONSTA X choreography: Nobody does body rolls like MONSTA X," Mason wrote, comparing the fact to the blue sky and the warm sun.
Continuing its 2020 foothold on global media, MONSTA X was also recently chosen by the British publication DAZED for its "Top 40 Best K-Pop Songs of 2020." The group secured the 23rd spot with "Fantasia," the title track for their 8th EP "Fantasia X." It also marked the group's first release as a six-piece group after Wonho left MONSTA X in 2019.
"Between the video's black and gold opulence and restrained chaos of "Fantasia" 's chorus, Monsta X hammer out the big moves and bigger beats they're beloved for," DAZED wrote.
The global attention garnered by the Starship Entertainment boy group does not end there, either. Just this month, the MONSTA X album "ALL ABOUT LUV" was also included in Time Magazine's "The Songs and Albums That Defined K-Pop's Monumental Year in 2020." The list recognizes the growth of the K-Pop phenomenon, conquering all forms of media.
Among the comments that Time Magazine has for the Valentine's Day album is the group's release of "some of K-pop's most suggestive lyrics," specifically citing the lyrics for the "Love U" chorus. Time also recognized Joohoney and IM - the group's rap line - for flexing their respective vocal prowesses.
As a globally-recognized act, MONSTA X doesn't just stop its conquest in the US. Its seventh Japanese single overall, "Wish on the Same Sky," was a hit in Japan back in April. It held on to the top spot of Tower Records' overall single week charts, later securing a spot on the sales monitor's "K-Pop Singles Top 10" for the first half of 2020.
MONSTA X is poised to wrap up this largely successful year, made possible by the love and support from their MONBEBEs.
