Nicolas Cage is Honored At Ischia Global Film Festival In Italia; honoree joins Samuel L. Jackson and Arnon Milchan [VIDEO]

Nicolas Cage will be the third honoree t to be honored at the the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest's Ischia Legends Award.

Honoree Nicolas Cage will join fellow actor Samuel L. Jackson and producer Arnon Milchan as recipients of the festival's top honor. The Ischia Global Film and Music Fest's Legends Award is scheduled to take place towards the middle of July.

Mike Figgis, who directed Cage in Leaving Las Vegas, was president of the last Capri Hollywood Film Fest, the other Bay of Naples island festival Vicedomini founded.

In addition to honoring Cage at the July 14-21 event, he festival will also hold the Italian premiere screening of The Frozen Ground, a Scott Walker thriller that stars Cage as a police officer who partners with Vanessa Hudgens, an erotic dancer and near victim of a serial killer (played by John Cusack).

Vicedomini, the festival's founder, praised Cage for his "daring performances and fearless choice of roles."

Previous winners of the prestigious award include Hilary Swank, Ben Kingsley, and Sting. Directors Vittorio and Paolo Taviani, as well as music producer Clive Davis, also received the honor.

Nicolas Cage has a number of projects currently on the horizon. In addition to the upcoming supernatural thriller Hotel 33, the actor will star in the reboot of the apocalyptic thriller Left Behind. Both films are expected to arrive at some point in the near future.

Cage is also likely to return for the sequel to his animated box office hit The Croods. The 20th Century Fox-produced family flick has earned an impressive $563 million worldwide. Not surprisingly, the studio is looking to capitalize on the movie's success with a follow-up.
