BTS, TWICE, MONSTA X, and TXT Lead the 'Best K-Pop Albums of 2020' — See Full List

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected various fields in the past year, which include the entertainment industry. Lockdowns and health protocols have to be implemented to minimize the spread of the virus. Despite all the perils and difficulties brought by the present global health crisis, some K-Pop idols have made the most of the medical disaster.

Recently, the South China Morning Post released a list of the best K-pop albums of 2020. Topping the list is "Map of the Soul: 7" by BTS. The album, which is Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, J-Hope, RM, V, and Suga's first album in 2020, included a total of 20 songs such as "Om," "We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal," "Moon," "Friends," "Inner Child," "00:00," "Ugh!" "My Time," "Filter," "Louder than Bombs," and "Dionysus," among others.

"Map of the Soul: 7" was proclaimed as the Album of the Year during this year's People's Choice Awards, Melon Music Awards, Genie Music Awards, and Mnet Asian Music Awards. Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, J-Hope, RM, V, and Suga's EP was even nominated in the upcoming Seoul Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards, and Gaon Chart Music Awards.

Coming second in the list is "Eyes Wide Open" by TWICE. The album is the second LP of Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Tzuyu, Sana, Jihyo, Chaeyong, Dahyun, and Mina in the Korean language. The album included a total of 13 songs such as "Say Something," "Go Hard," "Handle It," "Depend On You," "Up No More," "Bring It Back," and "Do What We Like," among others.

"Eyes Wide Open" peaked at No. 1 in the Billboard U.S. World Albums Chart and Gaon South Korean Albums Chart. Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Tzuyu, Sana, Jihyo, Chaeyong, Dahyun, and Mina's EP was even included in the Oricon Japanese Albums Chart, OCC U.K. Digital Albums Chart, Billboard's U.S. 200 Chart and Suomen Virallinen Lista Finnish Albums Chart.

"Fatal Love" by MONSTA X was also listed in South China Morning Post's best K-pop albums of 2020. The third LP of I.M. Wonho, Minhyuk, Shownu, Hyungwon, Kihyun, and Jooheon included a total of 10 songs, which include "Love Killa," "Thriller," "Nobody Else," "Stand Together" and "Last Carnival" among others. The said album made it to the 29 Best Song of 2020 list by Refinery29 and 50 Best K-Pop Songs of 2020 by KultScene.

Coming next is "Super One" by Super M. It is the first-ever album of the so-called supergroup released by Capitol Records and SM Entertainment on Sept. 25. The debut LP included a total of 15 songs such as "With You," "Dangerous Woman," "Step Up," "100," "Infinity," "Wish You Were Here," "Big Chance," and "Infinity," among others.

"Super One" peaked at No 1. In the Billboard U.S. World Albums Chart, Billboard U.S. Independent Albums Chart, and Gaon South Korean Albums Chart. It even entered the Billboard 200 Chart, Schweizer Hitparade Swiss Albums Chart, O3 Austria Albums Chart, Offizielle Top 100 German Albums Chart, and RMNZ New Zealand Album Chart.

Other LPs that made it to SCMP's best K-pop albums of 2020 include "Minisode1: Blue Hour" by TXT, "Monster" by Red Velvet members Irene and Seulgi, "-77.82X-78.29" by Everglow, "Da Capo" by April, "Dystopia: The Three of Language" by Dreamcatcher, "In Life" by Stray Kids, "Neo Zone: The Final Round" by NCT 127, "The Book of Us: The Demon" by Day6, "Treasure Epilogue: Action To Answer" by Ateez, "Universe: The Black Hall" by Pentagon," and "Walpurgis Night" by GFRIEND.
