BLACKPINK Rosé Gearing up for Solo Debut

On Wednesday, Dec. 30, South Korean news outlet OSEN revealed that BLACKPINK member Rosé is gearing up for her solo debut. Keep on reading to learn all the details.

According to South Korean news outlet OSEN, Rosé will be making her solo debut soon and is scheduled to shoot the music video for her debut song by mid-January. Rosé will be juggling music video filming, solo debut preparations, and preparations for the upcoming BLACKPINK online concert, which is slated to be held on Jan. 31, 2021.

YG Entertainment first announced Rosé's solo debut back in June in a statement concerning the member's solo debuts. They revealed that they have been working on Rosé's first-ever solo track for over a year. They revealed that it is taking more time than expected because they were planning to release multiple songs in an album format instead of just one digital single.

At the time, they stated that Rosé's solo work was completed and was scheduled to be released in September, after the release of BLACKPINK's first-ever full-length album. They also stated that Lisa's solo is prepared for release and they are currently preparing Jisoo's solo single release.

However, Rosé did not end up releasing her solo album, and BLACKPINK released their first-ever full-length album "THE ALBUM" in October. While fans were initially upset with YG Entertainment for delaying the release of Rosé's solo work, it was revealed in the Netflix documentary "BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky" that Rosé was hesitant to release work as she wanted it to be absolutely perfect. She was also revealed to be highly involved in the creative process of her work.

YG Entertainment in-house producer (and the founder of The Black Label, a subsidiary of YG Entertainment) Teddy Park has revealed that though they know that fans want them to release more music than they do, they are very selective in what they put out, as they only want top-quality music to be released.

Looks like fans no longer need to wait that long! Though no official release date has been disclosed, it is speculated that it will be released by late January or early to mid-February.

YG Entertainment hs stated that their solo releases will be sequential, with Rosé being their second member to debut as a soloist. Back in 2018, Jennie was the first K-pop soloist to debut as a soloist. She released the song "SOLO", which debuted at number one on the Gaon Music Chart and achieved a triple crown for topping the download, digital, and streaming charts. The song also topped the Billboard's World Digital Songs Chart. The music video for "SOLO" also surpassed 600 million views, making Jennie the first Korean female soloist to surpass 500 million views.

With the success of Jennie's solo debut, fans are highly anticipating Rosé's debut.

Currently, BLACKPINK is preparing for their live-streamed online concert "THE SHOW (YG PALM STAGE - 200 BLACKPINK: THE SHOW)", which is slated to be held on Jan. 31, 2021. This will be their first concert since the release of their first full-length album, "THE ALBUM", which drew attention both domestically and globally.
