Following her submission of a request to terminate her exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment, CLC's Elkie has recently posted a heartfelt message for the fans via her SNS account. Through the letter, she expressed her love for Cheshire (CLC's fandom).
On Dec. 25, CLC's Elkie teamed up with a legal counsel called the Jing Shi Law Firm to submit a request to Cube Entertainment, asking for contract termination. In the letter, Elkie detailed the reason why she is requesting to terminate her exclusive contract with the label, effective immediately. It was stated there that Cube Entertainment violated several terms and conditions, such as withholding the income Elkie earned, failing to pay her acting activities, and poor management.
It was also written in the letter that Cube Entertainment told CLC that they would no longer receive support from the agency, leaving the members with no plans for the future. As per Jing Shi Law Firm, these actions showed by the label seem to suggest that they have no plans to longer fulfill the terms of CLC's Elkie's contract.

On Dec. 30, Elkie posted a handwritten letter (written in three languages) to CLC's fandom, Cheshire. In it, she looks back at her past experiences while expressing how much she loves her loyal fans. The female idol began her letter by saying, "I have some true words from deep and I would really appreciate if you take time to read it over."
She continued, "It's been almost 6 years. Started from audition, debut, and finally got the chance to meet you all and become closer to each other. Until now, our love is very powerful and very precious. All the time, every event, every performance, every album... you have inspired and encouraged me a lot. It gives me strength to keep going."
CLC's Elkie then shared a particular moment in the past in which she was moved to tears by the fans' messages of support. "There are many more this kind of moments that I will NEVER forget," she said. The female idol went on to share that she encountered numerous obstacles along the way, including the fact that she was unable to show more and give all she has. "This made me feel so bad... and when I think of you who have been always supporting me makes me feel even more disappointed and depressed," she confessed.
The singer further stated that she feels she has not been successful as an artist and is not even satisfied with what she has done for the fans. Although Elkie is upset that she couldn't give fans her all, she is looking forward to new adventures with the fans, which according to her are the reason for her happiness.
Elkie Chong Ting-yan, mononymously called Elkie, is the only Chinese member of girl group CLC, which is being managed by Cube Entertainment since 2015. Elkie was added to the group in 2016, alongside Kwon Eunbin. She made her official debut in February of the same year with CLC's third extended play, "Refresh."
