TWICE, BTS, BLACKPINK, and More Enter Billboard's First World Digital Song Sales Chart of 2021

It is only the beginning of a new year and K-pop artists are already attaining remarkable achievements on a well-known music chart, particularly the Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart in the United States.

The World Digital Song Sales chart is published by Billboard magazine and ranks the best-selling international singles of that week in the United States. Given that K-pop is gaining more and more fame in the country, several songs from the genre often claim spots on the ranking. And for the first week of this year, 13 K-pop tracks made it onto the said chart.

Claiming the No. 1 spot on the Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart for the week ending Jan. 2 is TWICE's "Cry For Me." The latest release becomes the group's fourth song to land on the chart's first place, with the others being "Likey," "Feel Special," and "I Can't Stop Me."

Apart from TWICE's hits, BTS's songs also continue to secure spots on the said Billboard chart. At No. 2 is BTS's "Life Goes On," which was in the No. 1 position in the past four weeks after the release of the boy group's self-produced album, "BE."

BTS also took several other spots on the chart, as usual. "Filter" is at No. 6 now on its 42nd week, descending from No. 4 last week. "My Time" is at No. 9 for its 42nd week as well, dropping from No. 7 last week. BTS's Jungkook's "Euphoria" is at No. 11 for its 45th week, climbing up from No. 13 last week.

BTS's "Stay is also still charting on the chart, placed at No. 16 for its fifth week, falling from No. 12 last week. "Blue & Grey" ranked at No. 20 and is now on its fifth week also, coming down from No. 5 last week. BTS's "Mic Drop" (featuring Desiigner) and "Boy With Luv" (featuring Halsey) re-entered the Billboard's World Digital Song Sales Chart in the first week of 2021, coming in at No. 21 and No. 23, respectively. This becomes the 128th week of BTS's "Mic Drop" and the 67th week of "Boy With Luv" on the said chart.
