EXO's Baekhyun recently gave a hint about the group having a project this year. Whether it is a comeback or a variety show, one thing is for sure, EXO-Ls have something to look forward to this year!
On Jan. 3, EXO's Baekhyun conducted his first online solo concert called "Beyond LIVE - BAEKHYUN : LIGHT" through the live concert streaming service Beyond Live, which was launched by SM Entertainment in collaboration with Naver.
Baekhyun performed several songs, including the B-side tracks from his solo album, "Record of Youth" original soundtrack "Every Second," and his latest single "Amusement Park." He also sang the title song "Get You Alone" and the B-side track "Addicted" from his upcoming self-titled Japanese solo mini-album.
Apart from these, the solo artist also gave performances of EXO's songs such as "Growl" and "Call Me Baby," as well as EXO-CBX's "Blooming Day." Baekhyun then shared, "The stages took me back to the past. I really ran out of breath, singing these songs on my own after having sung them with the EXO members." He went on to say that EXO's songs are hard and that singing them alone made him miss his bandmates.
Baekhyun Hints at What to Look Forward to EXO this 2021
EXO's Baekhyun also revealed that something new from EXO will come out this year. "It's hard to sing on my own, so I have to sing together with the EXO members," he added. The idol didn't give much details as to what the "new" thing is - but it could probably be a new song/album from EXO, which would mark the group's long-awaited comeback.
The singer also made a brief spoiler recently on V Live days before his solo online concert, saying, "EXO had a big meeting," and, "Look forward to EXO's new side in 2021."
If EXO is confirmed to return to the K-pop scene this year, it will be the group's first comeback after more than one year since their sixth studio album titled "Obsession." It could be a comeback with Xiumin and D.O, who were both inactive in the entertainment industry in the second half of 2019 and last year as they were carrying out their military services.
In particular, EXO's Xiumin and D.O were unable to take part in "Obsession." Their last participation was back in 2018 when the group worked on the repackaged version of "Don't Mess Up My Tempo," titled "Love Shot." Following the album's launch in November 2018, Xiumin enlisted as an active-duty soldier in May 2019, while D.O was in July of the same year.
As of December 2020, EXO has five active members: Xiumin, Baekhyun, Kai, Chanyeol, and Sehun - who could take part in the potential comeback. D.O could also be included as he is set to be discharged from the military on Jan. 21, that is if the group plans to release a new song/album after D.O completes his military service.
Meanwhile, EXO members Suho and Chen are most likely to be absent from the possible group comeback as they are currently serving in the military since May 14 and October 26 last year, respectively. As for the Chinese member, Lay, he is busy promoting in China as a solo artist. His last participation in the group is for the Chinese version of "Tempo" from "Don't Mess Up My Tempo."
