Woo!ah! Garners Attention after Covering 2NE1's 'FIRE' in Mnet's 'Relay Dance Again'

Rookie group Woo!ah! recently caught the attention of the public after covering 2NE1's debut song "Fire" in Mnet's famous "relay dance" segment.

In the last couple of years, Mnet's "Relay Dance" has become more prominent for K-pop artists to take part in. The videos are fun for fans to watch, and this segment helps less-known groups and solo artists get more attention from the people. Besides dancing to their own releases, idols also cover legendary K-pop songs in a form of relay dance - it is called "Relay Dance Again."

Mnet's "Relay Dance Again" started as a Chuseok special content last year, and so far, 15 teams have already taken part, dancing to hit songs of legendary K-pop groups, including EXO's "Growl" and H.O.T's "Candy." And recently, NV Entertainment's girl group Woo!ah! covered a widely-known K-pop song - none other than 2NE1's "Fire."

Woo!ah!'s relay dance video of 2NE1's "Fire" was uploaded on Mnet's official YouTube channel last December 2020, and it immediately captured the interest of fans. Aside from the famous phrase "I go by the name CL of 2NE1" and unforgettable choreography, another thing that fans noticed is the hairstyle of woo!ah!'s Minseo. The female idol drew attention by perfectly recreating Sandara Park's iconic palm tree hairstyle.

The rookie group's management agency, NV Entertainment shared, "The original content 'Relay Dance Again' of Mnet's digital studio M2, in which woo!ah! appeared, exceeded 1.2 million views in only 10 days. It was an honor to be able to cover a song of 2NE1, who is still one of the role models of K-pop girl groups while showing off woo!ah!'s unique style."

A member of the rookie group also commented, and she said, "I will try to grow as an artist like 2NE1. Please look forward to woo!ah! in 2021."

After watching Woo!ah!'s relay dance video of 2NE1's "Fire," many fans, especially Blackjack (2NE1's fans) are impressed with their outstanding performance. Some say they are proud of the rookie group, while other K-pop fans who don't know about woo!ah! started stanning them.

2NE1 was a four-member girl group of YG Entertainment that debuted in 2009 with the song titled "Fire," which quickly became a hit in all on and offline Korean charts, thus gaining huge success in their home country. The song even won "Song of the Month" at Cyworld Digital Music Awards, and the band took home the "Rookie of the Month" for May 2009. And, following their debut, the group's name became the top search term at that time.
