A.C.E is partnering up with American DJ Steve Aoki for a remix of their latest song! This will be the first collaboration of the South Korean boy group this year.
On Jan. 3, A.C.E surprisingly dropped teaser images along with the hashtags "ACE_PROJECT," "ACE_Collaboration," and "2021forChoice," which seem to indicate that the boy band is set to release its first collaboration this 2021. According to the posts, the release date is on Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. KST.
The following day, A.C.E shared a new set of teaser photos, then today, Jan. 5, the boy band shared a teaser clip posted by Steve Aoki. It turns out that A.C.E is collaborating with DJ Steve Aoki for a remix of their latest title track "Favorite Boys." The remix version is titled "Fav Boyz (Steve Aoki's Gold Star Remix) and features Thutmose.
The 20-second teaser video the American DJ uploaded gives a preview of his "Favorite Boys (Gold Star Remix)." Apart from the teasers, A.C.E has also shared the tracklist of the upcoming release. It will contain "Fav Boyz (Steve Aoki's Gold Star Remix)," Fav Boyz (feat. Thutmose)" [Steve Aoki's Gold Star Remix], and the instrumental rendition of the song.
Steve Aoki previously worked with world-renowned K-pop boy band BTS to release a remix of the group's 2017 song "Mic Drop" and 2018 track "The Truth Untold." He also launched a single titled "Waste It on Me" in collaboration with BTS members Jungkook, Jimin, and RM. The song was included on Aoki's album, "Neon Future III" which was dropped in October 2018.
Considering this, A.C.E becomes the second Korean boy group and second overall to release a remix version of their song with Steve Aoki. But, when it comes to collaboration projects, A.C.E is the third Korean act to team up with Aoki since after BTS, MONSTA X was the second one. In February 2019, MONSTA X released their second studio album titled "Take.2: We Are Here," which contains eight songs including "Play It Cool" that was produced by the American DJ.
Steve Aoki is a DJ, entertainer, record producer, and music executive in the United States. He is known for his several Billboard-charting studio albums, including "Wonderland," which was one of the nominees for the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronica Album in 2013.
Meanwhile, A.C.E is a five-member boy band based in South Korea that debuted in May 2017 with the single album titled "Cactus," featuring a song of the same name. Last year, A.C.E released its fourth album called "HJZM: The Butterfly Phantasy" in September. It contains five songs including the title track "Goblin (Favorite Boys)."
A.C.E's "Goblin (Favorite Boys)" recently ranked first place on DAZED magazine's list of best K-pop songs of 2020. The British publication admired the song's anthem-like chorus and the perfect combination of rock and Korean tradition. Don't miss the release of the track's remix version on Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. KST!
