BTS and NCT 127 Included in MRC Data's Top 10 Highest-Selling Physical Album in the US in 2020

BTS and NCT 127 made it to the list of MRC Data's top 10 physical albums with the highest sales in the United States in 2020.

MRC Data (formerly Nielsen Music) recently issued its "2020 U.S. Year-End Report" in collaboration with Billboard, revealing the successful songs and albums in that year in the country. The results are based on the data gathered from Jan. 3 to Dec. 31. Billboard reports that BTS is the second highest-selling act when it comes to total album sales in the United States in 2020, with 1.54 million copies sold. Coming in first is American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift with 1.94 million sold across her catalog of albums.

In particular, BTS's "Map of the Soul: 7" is the album with the second largest sale in the US in that year, earning a total of 674,009 sales, following Taylor Swift's "Folklore." The list is based on physical sales and digital album downloads and not the overall equivalent album units. On the Top 10 Albums ranking based on the total album units, Lil Baby's "My Turn" claims the No. 1 position with 2.632 million copies sold.

On the Top 10 for the largest-selling physical albums in the US, BTS's "Map of the Soul: 7" ranked first place with 646,000 sales. The boy band's latest release, "BE" is also included in the ranking, taking the No. 5 spot with 252,000 sales. Apart from BTS, another Korean act managed to make it to the list - it is none other than NCT 127.

NCT 127 takes the No. 6 position with their second studio album "Neo Zone." According to MRC Data's year-end report, the Korean boy group was able to sell 249,000 copies in the country in 2020.

BTS's "Dynamite" topped the ranking with 1.26 million downloads, becoming the only song in the US to sell more than a million downloads. The track was followed by The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" with 580,000 downloads.

In other news, BTS and NCT ranked high on Gaon's weekly and monthly charts. For the physical album, NCT topped the list for the month of December with "RESONANCE PT. 2," which previously entered the weekly chart at No. 1. Coming in at No. 2 is IZ*ONE's most recent release, "One-reeler/ Act IV."
