Girl group WJSN charms the audience as fairies bringing hope and happiness with their special stage show on MBC's Show! Music Core, performing their New Year's anthem "As You Wish," January 9.
Wearing classy equestrian uniforms of emerald and white, the members conquered the Show! Music Core stage, with their performance, further illuminated by on-stage fireworks. Audiences were once again enthralled as WJSN performed their hit's iconic dance sequences - like genies and mermaids moving in perfect harmony.
WJSN's "As You Wish," The New Year Anthem for Two Consecutive Years
Originally released on November 19, 2019, "As You Wish" served as the lead single for WJSN's seventh EP of the same title. In its original music video, the group members are also dressed in a similar equestrian-themed outfit, black and white. They are also shown as phone patch operators, working to relay and grant wishes. Its lyrics are full of hope and optimism, as its chorus goes: "Obliviate, it's come true/ Now, only good things are going to happen like this/ As you wish, as you feel/ I'll grant the wishes, whenever, whatever."

Because the song espouses a hopeful message, it has become a New Year's anthem for a lot of people. The November 2019 track has topped two consecutive New Year's charts, first on the morning of January 1, 2020, and the next on January 1 of this year. Fans share a tradition that the first song a person listens to will decide their destiny for the entire year - and WJSN's "As You Wish" is perfect for attracting everything their heart desires!
As for the EP of the same name, "As You Wish" was a commercial success, debuting right at the second spot of the South Korean Gaon Weekly Album Charts. And in just 11 days before November ends, it managed to rack up more sales and charm its way into the 8th spot of the Gaon Monthly Album Charts. The lead track for the EP also earned the ladies a music show victory on the November 26, 2019 episode of SBS MTV's The Show.
WJSN Continues to Rise 2020: Obliviate, Neverland, and the Chocome Subunit
As a rising global artist, WJSN filled 2020 with activities that allowed them to interact with fans from different parts of the world and offer new music. On February, the Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment joint group launched its third concert, titled "WJSN Concert 'Obliviate.'" The show had multiple stops, starting at Seoul's Olympic Hall and ending at Tokyo's Toyosu PIT.
A few months later, they released their eighth mini-album, "Neverland," following "As You Wish." Their latest album was released on June 9, 2020 and was led by its title track "Butterfly." Building on the girl group's rising fame, "Neverland" beat their previous record with "As You Wish," with the 8th mini-album also debuting at the second spot of the Gaon Weekly Album Chart and finishing seventh on the monthly album charts.
The year 2020 also saw the launch of its latest sub-unit, WJSN Chocome, made up of members Dayoung, Yeoreum, Luda, and Soobin. The subunit debuted with the single-album "Hmph!" on October.
