TXT Included in Lineup for KBS's Lunar New Year's Special 'Chosun Pop Again'

TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) will be performing at the upcoming "untact" (non-face-to-face contact) show designed by KBS to celebrate Lunar New Year. Keep on reading to get more details.

On Friday, Jan. 15, KBS announced that they will be conducting an "untact" global project for the Lunar New Year that will be called "Chosun Pop Again." This means that fans of Korean music from all over the world can watch the show. KBS also shared that they will be recruiting 500 domestic and international online audiences.

Planned by Kim Ho Sang and directed by Song Joon Young, the Lunar New Year's special "Chosun Pop Again" was designed with the intent to open a new year full of excitement. The global big show will be showcasing various genres of music such as Korean traditional music, crossover music, trot, and hip hop. It is expected to present an upgraded "untact" performance to entertain viewers.

In addition, KBS has revealed the lineup of performing artists and includes only one K-pop group - and it is none other than Big Hit Entertainment's TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT). Other Korean acts include LEENALCHI, Akdan Kwangchil, Kim Young-im, Song Ga-in, Forestella, Song So-hee, Shin Yu, Park Seo-jin, and Na Tae-joo. TXT will be the one to represent K-pop hip hop in the global project.

The upcoming Lunar New Year's special will mark TXT's second performance this 2021. The boy group previously attended the 35th Golden Disc Awards last Jan. 10, and they received one of the "Best Album" awards at the ceremony, along with their senior group BTS.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER still has no other schedules for this month so far, besides Soobin continuing his duties as one of the hosts in KBS's Music Bank and Yeonjun making his cameo appearance in the last episode of "Live On" that aired on Jan. 12. The boy group appears to be still taking a break from promotions as they have lots of activities last year.

In January 2020, TXT made their Japanese debut with a single album titled "Magic Hour," which includes the title track "Magic Hour" and the Japanese versions of their previous songs "Crown," Run Away," and "Angel or Devil." The title song was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) after selling 100,000 copies.

In May, TXT released their second extended play titled "The Dream Chapter: Eternity," which debuted at No. 1 on the Oricon Albums Chart, becoming the band's first chart-topper in Japan. Two months later, the EP received an official platinum certification from the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) after selling 250,000 units. "The Dream Chapter: Eternity" becomes TXT's very first work to earn a certification in the country since its debut.

In September, TOMORROW X TOGETHER received another platinum certification from KMCA for their previous releases, "The Dream Chapter: Star" and "The Dream Chapter: Magic." The next month, the quintet launched their third EP, "Minisode1: Blue Hour," debuting at No. 25 on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming TXT's highest-ranking album in the United States. It was also certified platinum by KMCA.

Meanwhile, KBS 2TV's "Chosun Pop Again" is scheduled to be broadcast during the Lunar New Year holidays.
