MLD Entertainment Issues Follow-up Statement Regarding MOMOLAND Nancy's Manipulated Photos

MLD Entertainment has released a follow-up statement concerning the manipulated photos of MOMOLAND Nancy undressing at the 2019 AAA that have been circulating online.

According to MLD Entertainment on Jan. 15, the company is currently cooperating with the Cyber Investigation Unit of the Gyeonggi Southern District Police Agency to look into the illegal distribution of MOMOLAND Nancy's recently-leaked photoshopped photos of her undressing. The record label also stated that they will implement civil and criminal penalties to punish both first and second distributors, including illegal photographers.

MLD Entertainment added that the names or account names of the people they will see posting MOMOLAND Nancy's edited images illegally will be gathered together in a PDF file format. The company further said that they will make strive to protect their artists and prevent further damages from taking place through actively taking part in the investigation and self-monitoring.

Below is MLD Entertainment's official statement:

"Good morning. This is MLD Entertainment.

We recently mentioned that we are taking strong legal action against the illegal distribution of manipulated photos related to our artist, Nancy, both online and on social media.

Currently, our company is actively cooperating in the investigation of the Cyber Investigation Unit of the Gyeonggi Southern District Police Agency. We plan to punish both the first and second distributors, including illegal photographers, by carrying out civil and criminal penalties without consensus. In order to protect our artists, we will make every effort to avoid further damages through investigation, cooperation, and self-monitoring.

We will also appreciate if fans could collect the publishers' account and posts together and report them to MLD Entertainment in PDF file format whenever they discover illegal posts. We thank the fans for always loving and supporting our artists, and we will continue to do our best to protect the personality and rights of our artists. Thank you."

On Jan. 10, images of MOMOLAND Nancy changing her outfit with the help of female staff members and stylists began making rounds online, particularly on Discord servers, online community forums, and Twitter. The photos are said to have been captured by another staff member who was also present at that moment. Reports state that the pictures were taken last year during the 2019 Asia Artist Awards (AAA).

The leaked photos were initially uploaded to a group chat with over 500 people and were since shared to several Discord servers, including a MIDZY (ITZY fan club) server and NSFW Twitter accounts. Because of this, fans took to social media to share the news with other fan clubs and suggesting them to report it to MLD Entertainment.

Thanks to the fans, the issue has reached MOMOLAND's management agency and has released a statement the day after the news broke out. MLD revealed that Nancy is suffering a lot right now due to her leaked and manipulated photos that are circulating online. The label also took note that they will take strong legal action against the people involved in the incident.

Additionally, the organizing committee of the 2019 AAA issued an apology statement to both MOMOLAND Nancy and MLDE. The organizers said that they will cooperate in the investigation.
