BLACKPINK Jennie's 'SOLO' Breaks Another Record after Surpassing 600M Views on YouTube

BLACKPINK Jennie created another history as she becomes YouTube's first Korean female solo artist to have the most views for the music video of her solo debut track, "SOLO"!

Jennie, the main rapper of the quartet and first to debut as soloist from the group, once again recorded another record-breaking achievement as her "SOLO" MV reached 600 million views on YouTube.

According to YG Entertainment on the Jan. 15, Friday, Jennie's music video for "SOLO" reached the milestone at 5:19 a.m. on the same day.

The news truly made K-pop fans, particularly BLINKs (BLACKPINK's fandom), in awe, as it is already very rare and for a Korean solo female artist's music video to achieve a hundred million views, let alone gained 600 million views for a single MV.

Due to this record, Jennie is proving that BLACKPINK's global influence is no joke, and her supporters are showing steady love for her despite the MV having released in 2018.

Jennie's "SOLO" Release and Achievements

This is not the first time that Jennie showcased an incredible record with her debut track. In particular, "SOLO," released in November 2018, is a song that flaunts an addictive melody and beat while conveying the message from a person not being bound by sadness despite the breakup.

As soon as it was released, the music video exceeded 100 million views in 23 days, 200 million views in 90 days, 300 million views in 182 days, 400 million views in 13 months, and 500 million views in 20 months. Considering that the MV's 600 million views took about 26 months, it is proof that music enthusiasts' love for the song increases over time.

Moreover, aside from having overwhelming achievements with on YouTube, Jennie's single also topped the real-time, daily, and weekly charts of major music charts in Korea, even earning the "Perfect All-Kill" (PAK) record.

Lastly, Jennie became the first Korean female solo artist as well to top iTunes Worldwide Song Chart and top 10 iTunes chart in the U.S.

BLACKPINK, comprised of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, will be having an online concert, "YG Palm Stage - 2020 BLACKPINK: The Show," which will be held on January 31.

Meanwhile, Jennie's bandmate Jisoo was chosen as the cover girl for women's magazine "W Korea" February issue in collaboration with Dior.

Earlier, Jisoo posted new photos on her Instagram account, tagging both the fashion magazine and the luxury brand's official accounts.

In the photos, Jisoo proved her title as the main visual of BLACKPINK, featuring her fairy-like beauty in a dreamy atmosphere. Her mermaid hairstyle and blue eyes captured the attention of fans the most.
