BLACKPINK joined international superstars Madonna, Whitney Houston, Spice Girls and more, as female artists who broke barriers in the industry with their powerful music!
On Jan 15, the U.S. news media outlet, The Grand Island Independent, wrote an article listing the "50 Women Who Broke Barriers in the Music Industry." The list was collated by Stacker, an expert analysis website that used unique data along with their team of experts. Quantitative data were collected to their editorial insights, then coming up with the list.
Along with the legendary singers Madonna, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Janet Jackson, Taylor Swift, and more, BLACKPINK also entered the list, capturing attention from K-pop fans.
BLACKPINK is the Only K-pop Act in the List; Girls' Generation and Wonder Girls Were Also Mentioned
According to Stacker, BLACKPINK truly achieved an exceptional worldwide success atop the K-pop industry, unlike other K-pop acts.
In particular, the quartet's pre-release track, "How You Like That," became a pass for them to fully enter the U.S. market. With this track, they gained numerous achievements, specifically on their overwhelming YouTube views.
On top of this, BLACKPINK is also the first Korean female artist to be given by "Recording Industry Association of America" a certification, not to mention that they were also referred to by various music media outlets as, "Biggest Band in the World," such as Bloomberg.
Meanwhile, the expert analysis site also mentioned prominent K-pop acts Girls Generation and Wonder Girls, saying, "Following the footsteps of Girls Generation and Wonder Girls, BLACKPINK achieved worldwide success" -- acknowledging their huge contribution as pioneer female acts that become "blueprints" of the younger-gen idols.
