(G)I-DLE Soyeon Receives Sympathy after Being Slammed for Line Distribution in ‘HWAA’

(G)I-DLE recently made a comeback with their fourth mini-album "I burn," which contains the title track "HWAA." Initially, Soyeon, the group's leader and producer, composer, and songwriter, was slammed for the unfair line distribution in "HWAA" after it was revealed member Shuhua only got 3.9 seconds of lines. Now, however, people are coming out to defend her.

Last Monday, Jan. 11, a user on an online community forum posted "Don't you feel sorry for (G)I-DLE's Soyeon?" In the post, the user noted that Soyeon is in charge of writing and composing most of their materials and is involved in part distribution to some extent, but it appears she has difficulty assigning parts to Shuhua. They note that if she were to mess up with line distribution it would greatly affect their live performance and would ruin the team's image.

With that, it is acknowledged that Soyeon puts a lot of time and effort to assign lines to members who suit them to produce a good track, which could sometimes make the line distributions appear uneven. The user mentions how people have criticized Soyeon for how she distributes parts and has demanded more lines be given to Shuhua, but she cannot even if she wanted to. They ask people to not blame Soyeon and that they feel sorry for them.

Since then, many people have flocked to the post, agreeing with the original poster's sentiments. Many noted that Soyeon has greatly helped create (G)I-DLE's image and that one of the biggest reasons for the girl group's success is because of the time and effort Soyeon puts into the group and their music. It is also noted that Shuhua still struggles with Korea, so giving her fewer Korean lines might help boost her confidence on stage.

Back on Jan. 12, (G)I-DLE member Shuhua's Chinese fan club announced that they would halt all album orders after discovering the idol had less than four seconds of lines in "HWAA." This means that there is a 33.4-second difference between her and Soyeon, the member with the most lines, who has 37.3 seconds. She is the only member to not surpass the 10-second mark, with Soojin, the member with the second least amount of lines, singing 16.8 seconds of the song. The fan club also noted that Shuhua only got 17 seconds of screen time in the "HWAA" music video.

The fan club released a statement through Idol World, in which they stated that they have supported CUBE Entertainment from the beginning and never skipped out on bulk ordering albums. However, after discovering the lack of lines Shuhua has in "HWAA", they have come to the realization that the agency has not done their due diligence in taking care of Shuhua and have greatly decreased her lines since the groups "Oh my god" era. They also claim that they have started slacking on her make-up.

They announced that until the agency starts treating Shuhua fairly, they will not be purchasing (G)I-DLE albums will continue to support Shuhua personally.
