Is 2021 indeed a "20-2NE1" year? Gong Minzy, a former 2NE1 member, hinted that the K-pop icon group is planning to reunite again.
On Jan. 19, Tuesday, MBC Every1's "South Korean Foreigners" announced that Actor Gong Hyung Jin, former 2NE1 Gong Minzy, sports announcer Gong Seo Young and daily deputy team leader Ahn Hye Kyung will appear on the upcoming episode that will air on Jan. 20.
Gong Minzy, who debuted in 2009 with 2NE1, has been greatly loved by the public for many hit songs such as "I Don't Care," "Fire," and "I Am the Best," and is now showing a new appearance as a soloist.
Minzy Shared That 2NE1 Could Reunite Soon
Undoubtedly, when a member of the quartet appeared on a show, lots of fans, particularly Blackjacks (2NE1 fandom), were curious about the members reuniting for a new song release.
In the preview released by the variety show, MC Kim Yong man asked the singer, "How is the atmosphere between the members?" Minzy then answered that the members of her former group are also planning "something."
She said, "Everyone wants to do something somehow," alluding that the 2NE1 reunion is likely. Minzy added that Sandara Park suggested to the get-together before not being able to perform on stage due to their age, saying, "We could get osteoporosis, so let's get together before that."
More details will be released on the Jan. 20 episode of "South Korean Foreigners," which will air at 8:30 p.m. KST.
Meanwhile, the members showed a close relationship as Minzy shared that she contacted Sandara who also participated in the show and reached a high level during the program for a piece of advice.
"When I asked Dara how to go up to the high level, it's important to do well, but it's lucky? I heard that you should be lucky," she said with a smile.
2NE1: Where are The Former Members Now?
As rumors of a reunion this 2021 receives a hot response, music fans are also curious on where the former members now are and what they think about reuniting again.
CL, the leader of the group is thriving on her solo career. Recently, the female star confirmed that she will be finally releasing her debut studio album, "+Alpha+" this year. In addition to this, she also participated in EPIK HIGH's 10th full album's ("Epik High Is Here" Part 1) title track, "Rosario," as a featuring artists.
As for Park Bom, she recently stated that she's preparing for a new release this 2021 as well, and also flaunted her recent weight loss and transformation.
Dara is also going well with her career as an entertainer who is a mainstay host in "Video star." And last year, she debuted as a musical actress after starring in "Another Oh Hae Young."
Lastly, Minzy, who celebrated her birthday on Jan. 18, became an independent artist last year, releasing her single "Lovely."
She also established her own company MZ Entertainment. Then, in October 2020, she signed a contract with Viva Entertainment in the Philippines to pursue her musical activities.
On the other hand, 2NE1 members have been hinting at a reunion for the past years. CL is always open on talking about 2NE1, and proudly mentions everytime their sister-like relationship. She also added emotional 2NE1 snippets when she released "In the Name of Love."
Park Bom also expressed her desire for a 2NE1 reunion when she appeared on "King of the Masked Singer," while Dara also became emotional last year when she appeared in "My Music Teacher Mingalabar" as she talked about her former co-members, even shedding tears while conveying that she longs for them to be together once again.
