SHINee's Beginnings and Recent Activities

SHINee is a contemporary R&B boy group under SM Entertainment that made its debut in May 2008 with an extended play titled "Replay," which was a success in South Korea. Just months after, they already received awards among them are "Rookie of the Month" (June) at the Cyworld Digital Music Awards, "Hot New Star" at the Mnet 20's Choice Awards, and "Best New Artist" at the 5th Asia Song Festival. Like their first EP, SHINee's following releases also became popular, with some of them being "Ring Ding Dong," "View," Sherlock," and their debut song "Replay." SHINee's musical impact in their home country has earned them the title "Princes of K-pop."

Starting from 2018, the remaining members (member Jonghyun passed away in December 2017) enlisted in the military one by one. Onew was the first one to begin his mandatory military service and was followed by Key and Minho. While the three were inactive in the entertainment industry, member Taemin continuously released new music. His latest work is his third Korean studio album titled "Never Gonna Dance Again."
