SBS MTV music show "The Show" explained the suspicions of reselling autographed CDs of the singers.
On Jan. 29, Friday, the Korean media outlet No Cut News released an exclusive statement from "The Show" officials, clarifying the allegations of reselling autographed CDs of K-pop idols given to the staff and producers.
"The Show" Criticized after Fans Found out Some of the CDs Being Resold Were Given to Music Show Officials
In particular, a store in a second-hand trading app caught the attention of netizens, particularly K-pop fans after finding out that the store sells large amounts of CDs of idol groups that are not for sale.
The CDs containing autographs and simple writings of the members of idol groups were sold at high prices ranging from 50,000 won to 150,000 won per album.
Netizens then tried to translate the phrase written on the signed CD and the recipient's name, which was erased somewhat loosely. This is when they found out that it was a non-sale signed CD received by the "The Show" official.
The controversy spread quickly as more fandoms of various idol groups learned about it.
Numerous Criticism arose that the official tried to earn unfair profits by reselling the "non-sale signed CD" K-pop idol groups gave to them, as a token of saying thank you and hoping that they would take care of them during the broadcast.

"The Show" Official Released Statement Denying the Allegations of Reselling Idols' CDs
Following the controversy, an official of "The Show" told CBS No Cut News on Jan. 29 that the reselling is not their official's doing.
The official affirmed, "As a result of the investigation, the production team did not sell CDs signed by the singers of "The Show" on the used trading app. We are currently trying to figure out the sales channels."
"We apologize for the neglect of management, and we will pay attention to the handling of related goods from now on."
"The Show" ended its renewal in a month and resumed broadcasting on Wednesday.
On the other hand, the issue gets bigger as more fans are discovering second-hand trading applications and websites that are reselling signed albums and CDs.
On Jan. 19, online communities were perplexed to see albums given to CLC by their senior singers on the online market. Some of the autographed CDs came from TVXQ Yunho, Rothy, We in the Zone, and Cherry Bullet.
Netizens were divided if CLC themselves decided to sell the albums, or there was a management mishandling of gifts for the girl group.
