iKON is originally a seven-member group and was notable for their various hit songs such as "MY TYPE," "LOVE SCENARIO" and "KILLING ME," which tracks also brought them grand prizes (daesangs) from year-end music awards ceremonies.

Along with these, they are also known as one of the few groups who achieved a "Rookie Grand Slam," referring to those new groups who swept awards from main award ceremonies including MNET Asian Music Awards (MAMA), Gaon Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards, Seoul Music Awards, and Melon Music Awards.

Unfortunately, iKON re-organized as a six-member group in 2019 after former member B.I's illegal drug use controversy, which turned out to be false after he tested negative in 2020.

Nevertheless, the group achieved good results by topping iTunes album charts in 24 countries with its later release of "i DECIDE."

Though there are divided opinions about their participation in "Kingdom," a high-ranking YGE official affirmed, "We will do our best to support the performance of iKON in presenting good music and stage rather than putting meaning to the competition and ranking."
