aespa, the emerging "Global K-pop rookie," has been selected as an ambassador for the luxury brand, Givenchy!

According to SM Entertainment, on February 10, aespa was selected as the 2021 brand ambassador for French luxury house Givenchy.

The quartet, which is composed of Karina, Winter, Giselle, and NingNing, will feature a collection and major lines by Matthew M. Williams, the infamous creative director of the fashion luxury house!

SM Entertainment's rookie group aespa has been proving their global popularity and influence, as they were selected as the first K-pop artists to be the brand ambassador of Givenchy.

Indeed, this is a huge sign of their power as aside from they are only a three-month-old group that debuted during the pandemic; it is also unusual in the fashion world that a group, not an individual member, has become the face of a brand.

Matthew M. Williams then explained why they chose the female group as their new ambassadors, saying, “When I first saw aespa, I was overwhelmed by the energy each member had. As a group, I felt that the firm personality and style of each member including Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning naturally connected with Givenchy's sensitivity. aespa's fashion represents their own color.”

In response, aespa expressed their happiness to work with Matthew and affirmed that they will be showing various aspects of their future activities along with the brand.

Following the news, K-pop enthusiasts, particularly MYs (fandom of aespa) congratulated the idols on various social media platforms, and the hashtag #aespaforGivenchy also appeared on Twitter real-time searches.

On the other hand, aespa who debuted with their single "Black Mamba," scored numerous achievements with just a single release, despite non-contact promotions.

Upon debut, aespa's "Black Mamba" MV became the most viewed debut MV in 24 hours and became the fastest debut MV to reach 100 million views.

They also dominated on local and international charts, such as on the U.S. Billboard, K-pop Radar, QQ Music, MelOn Chart, and Gaon Chart.

At the end of the year, aespa also earned the title for "Best New Artist/Rookie" from major music award ceremonies, including Golden Disc Awards, Seoul Music Awards, and more.

aespa Reveals the Artists That they Want to Collaborate with

On February 9, aespa appeared on Park So Hyun's radio talk show, "Love Game," wherein they shared several facts and trivia about themselves.

In the show, Karina selected IU as the artist she wants to work with on their future works, while Giselle has chosen Zico. Ningning then picked DinDin, and Winter selected Girls' Generation Taeyeon and EXO Baekhyun!
