It is known that luxury brands gift K-pop stars their products, hoping that it could help them promote their clothing. But what about custom-designed K-pop costumes? The design team has clarified this matter with AYO.

Lingerie Han CEO Han Seo Mi and her junior designer Na Hyun Bi participated in an interview where they answered several questions, with some related to K-pop idols' outfits. These designers are famous for their corsets and bra, which exude a lingerie look.

When first asked how she started the lingerie look for broadcasting, Han shared that she created her own brand and she had a commission from the staff of the movie "The Handmaiden." And from there, she began creating K-pop costumes for artists including Apink and Red Velvet, as well as for Korean model Jang Yoon Joo, who was featured in aespa's teaser images.

The next question was about specific K-pop outfits that if possible can be worn in daily life, as according to the person asking, regular people can't wear them since it has an underwear vibe. As a response, the two experienced designers emphasized that those are regular clothing with a lingerie feel, and that lingerie look is different from lingerie itself.

After some time, Han Seo Mi touched on the outfits they created for Red Velvet's Irene and Seulgi which they wore for the music video of their song "Monster." Han Seo Mi details the features of the two idols' attires.

At some point, these experienced designers were asked, "Idols' stage costumes are all free, right?" According to Han Seo Mi, the answer is a "NOPE" - except for particular cases.

The CEO explained that they design the K-pop outfits and the artists wear them multiple times, such as for album cover photo shoots, music videos, television shows, and music show performances. Naturally, since idols sweat a lot while dancing, the costumes can get ruined, meaning these can't be reused or resold. For designers, it would appear like they are throwing money down the drain if they won't ask for money from the K-pop idols' companies.

Na Hyun Bi added, "It takes a lot of effort for costume making including ideas for the design. It's all handmade, and it's not that we make it in a day so it can never be free."

While Lingerie Han often creates attires that artists need to wear in multiple settings, sometimes they would provide costumes for a photoshoot. In this case, Han Seo Mi says that they lend outfits for two to three days and charge those with a rental fee. And, in rare cases, the CEO would lend out costumes for free. But, only "for a muse who I love," according to her, but "it's a secret."
