Eminem New Album 2013 Rumors: Commercials Getting In The Way?

The new Eminem album in 2013 has everyone salivating for the Detroit Emcee's eighth studio release, but as he's gotten bigger has Eminem spent too much time commercializing his brand and is that why we keep waiting for new material?

We might be able to trace Eminem's ascent into commercials from the biggest commercial he ever appeared in: the 2011 Super Bowl ad for Chrysler:

Since that ad aired, it's been impossible to find new Eminem music aside from usual guest verses for a host of the emcees Eminem represents with Shady Records.

The 2010 release of Relapse, then spawned multiple Eminem rumors that a "Relapse 2" was coming.

It never happened.

With 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg, all out and about where is Eminem?

He tweets only sporadically, with eight 140 character or less messages since the calendar clicked over to 2013.

Plus, this new album isn't getting any closer to completion with no news over the last couple weeks, except the theory he'll release his first studio album in three years some time before this summers set of concerts in August.

In 2010 Eminem again graced the top of the Billboard 200 chart with "Recovery."

The project produced the hit single “Love the Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna, which topped the Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks.

Eminem only announced the new album on a limited edition baseball hat inspired by the Detroit Tigers last October.

Eminem will contribute to 50 Cent’s “Street King Immortal” and Skylar Grey’s forthcoming debut "Don't Look Down," but then what?

More commercials? More teasing glimpses of new material that we never get to indulge in with a full record?

Even the "French Eminem" Orelsan is getting more publicity with his conviction for insulting speech and incitement to violence for misogynistic lyrics French feminist groups have been going after him for since 2009.

That's before the last Eminem album, and it was four years ago!

As Eminem's 2013 Facebook page points out, the hip hop world is deathly in need of Eminem to save itself from the redundancies of the contemporary rapper.

The 2013 Eminem album needs to get here now. The future of hip hop might depend on it.
