Nam Tae Hyun, a former member of the K-pop group WINNER and vocalist of the band South Club, expressed his stance with Myanmar citizens against the current Myanmar Military Coup d' état.
In particular, Korean singer Nam Tae Hyun, currently the leader-vocalist of the band South Club, has publicly voiced his opinion against the bloody Myanmar coup.
Following his Instagram post, the former K-pol idol immediately received positive responses from K-pop fans, particularly enthusiasts from Myanmar, thanking him for standing with them.
Nam Tae Hyun Spreads Awareness About Myanmar Coup + Expressed his Position
On March 2, the Korean singer updated his Instagram account with a new post addressing the current situation in Myanmar.
Nam posted a photo showing a so-called three-finger salute along with the caption, "Did you shoot unarmed citizens?" "Stop Myanmar's government (military and police forces)," ending the post with a hashtag #myanmar.
In context, the three-fingered salute has become an act of rallying protesters together to resist dictatorship and sacrifice for the cause. It is used to support pro-democracy protesters inside and outside Myanmar.
As soon as he posted the photo, it immediately gained attention from K-pop fans, especially Myanmar fans, who are also responding to Nam Tae Hyun's support for anti-coup protesters with comments saying "Thank you" on social media.
Meanwhile, Myanmar's civic group, the Political Crime Support Association, said 30 people had been killed and more than 1,100 were arrested in a month since the coup on February 1.

On the other hand, Nam Tae Hyun, who rose into popularity as a member of K-pop group WINNER, is now the founder of the South Korean band, South Club.
For a background, Nam Tae Hyun debuted in 2014 as the vocalist of WINNER, formed under YG Entertainment. He captured music fans' interest as aside from his vocal, the singer also writes and produces songs for their group.
The star also received favorable responses for his acting potential showed in "Midnight Girl," "Late Night Restaurant," and the Chinese-Korean-produced drama, "Under the Black Moonlight."
However, in October 2016, YG Entertainment announced his break from the K-pop scene to receive treatment for his mental health problems, but in November of the same year, Tae Hyun eventually left the agency and the group to focus on his treatment.
In 2018, the former idol revealed that he left the group due to the restrictions to have freedom, may it be on going to places or working on their songs.
Luckily, the singer found a new light through his band, South Club.
