BLACKPINK joins Dua Lipa, Maria Bakalova, and more as women who made a huge impact in global entertainment throughout the years!
On March 4, Writer Kim Eun Hee, who wrote the screenplay for the Netflix series "Kingdom," as well as the "biggest girl group on the planet" BLACKPINK, was named "Women that Have Made an Impact in Global Entertainment" by a famous foreign media.
The U.S. media "Variety" announced the rankings on Thursday, ahead of the celebration of "World Women's Day" set on March 8.

In particular, the U.S. media introduced 54 amazing lists of women, may it be solo or a group, that did incredible works and achievements despite the pandemic.
Searching the women in the rankings from Kenya to South Korea, K-pop act BLACKPINK and screenplay writer Kim Eun Hee were chosen, ranking No. 11 and No. 28.
The column then explained the greatest achievement of BLACKPINK as they solidify their stardom without a single tour in the aftermath of the novel coronavirus infection over the past year.
"Their popularity has no borders, and as soon as the "How You Like That" music video was released in June, it set a new record of 86.3 million views in 24 hours on YouTube."
The group was also commended for releasing their first full-length album, "THE ALBUM" that topped 57 countries in iTunes as soon as it was released, not to mention how they bring fantastic collaboration songs with Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, and Cardi B, helping them chart better in the U.S.
As for writer Kim Eun Hee, the U.S. media introduced Kim Eun Hee's interview comment, announcing that she created the popular Netflix series "Kingdom" by combining historical dramas and zombie action thrillers and two genres."
In the interview, writer Kim Eun-hee said, "I gain strength every time I see Yoon Yeo Jung, the star of 'Minari' and she is still walking on a unique path. It is admirable and challenging to see someone expand their field regardless of age."
Meanwhile, British singer Dua Lipa, Chinese actress Gong Li, actresses in the Netflix series "Bridgerton," Japanese director Naomi Kawase, Italian actress Sophia Loren, and Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova were on the list.

BLACKPINK as Variety Hitmakers' "Group of the Year"
On the other hand, this is not the first time that BLACKPINK was noticed by the media. In December 2020, the quartet also took home the title for "Group of the Year," presented by Variety Hitmakers.
Undoubtedly, 2020 was a blast for the group. The first K-pop girl group to perform in one of the biggest U.S. music festivals, "Coachella," also became the first group to be featured in Netflix's first K-pop original content--- through a documentary titled, "Light Up the Sky."
