DAY6 Sungjin Announces that He Will Enlist in the Military
On Monday, March 8, The DAY6 member held a V LIVE broadcast where he showed a buzz haircut, as he was on his way somewhere. While fans thought it was an ordinary livestream in which the male idol will casually talk to them, Sungjin suddenly announced that he was on his way to the military training center where he will start his military service. He even named the broadcast, "Salute."

Fans who tuned into his livestream, of course, thought that he was just making it up since there was no official statement released by his management agency, JYP Entertainment. But DAY6 Sungjin confirmed that he was really traveling to the military training center. He also shared that he requested to make his military enlistment as quiet as possible and that this decision was made a month ago.
Prior to the military enlistment of DAY6's leader, it was reported that that the boy band is currently working on a new album, which is planned for release in April. In response to the news, JYP Entertainment verified that the group is, indeed, preparing a new album, with the official comeback date to be announced at a later date.

With regards to Sungjin's parts on the group's upcoming album, he shared during the V LIVE broadcast that he had already recorded his parts ahead of time. DAY6 Sungjin even spoiled that the album will be consists of seven songs. In addition, the male idol assured fans that after he returns from the military, DAY6 will continue as a group.
The other DAY6 members showed their support to Sungjin through online posts. Jae tweeted a picture of Sungjin and wrote, "Love you, Sungjin." Wonpil shared a picture on his Instagram story with the text, "Return safely! Love you."
DAY6 Sungjin's Activities before His Military Enlistment
Sungjin becomes the first DAY6 member to begin his mandatory military service since he is the oldest among the members. Before he enlisted, he, along with his bandmates, released an extended play on May 11 last year, titled "The Book of Us: The Demon." This EP was dropped although the JYP Entertainment band was taking a temporary hiatus at that time. In particular, Sungjin and Jae were taking a break to focus on recovering their health.
DAY6 Sungjin was credited for writing the lyrics and producing some of the songs in "The Book of Us: The Demon." The singer-songwriter took part in creating "Day and Night," "Tick Tock," "Love Me or Leave Me," "Stop," "1 to 10," and "Afraid."
While Sungjin didn't make his solo debut in the previous years, he still had a major role in the process of preparing the albums and extended plays of DAY6. Not to mention, he participated in producing "Time of Our Life," alongside bandmates Jae, Young K, and Wonpil. What makes this track noteworthy is that the rock band was able to achieve their first music show win with it.
