Stray Kids to Participate in Next Filmings for Mnet's 'Kingdom' without Hyunjin

Stray Kids is one of the K-pop boy groups that will compete in Mnet's upcoming competition show, "Kingdom." All the members have previously taken part in the filming of the program. However, following the bullying accusations against Hyunjin, the male idol will be halting all of his activities, including his participation in the said program.

Stray Kids Hyunjin Claimed to be a School Bully

On Dec. 6, 2020, Stray Kids, along with ATEEZ, was confirmed to appear as a participant in Mnet's "Kingdom: Legendary War." After more than two months, Stray Kids Hyunjin unexpectedly became one of the Korean celebrities to be accused of school bullying.

The idol's management agency, JYP Entertainment, then met the accuser in person, as well as Hyunjin's former classmates, teachers, and individuals who were around him during his middle school days.

However, after in-depth discussions with the Stray Kids Hyunjin and the people JYPE called, it was difficult for them to reach the same conclusion as there were differences between the opinions of both parties. While it was not verified whether the male idol was a school bully, JYP Entertainment said that some people were hurt by Hyunjin's immature and inappropriate words and actions in the past.

And so, the Stray Kids member apologized to them personally and even posted a letter via the group's SNS accounts on Feb. 26. The following day, JYP Entertainment announced that Hyunjin will be halting all of his entertainment activities and will be reflecting on himself.

Stray Kids to Take Part in Next Filmings for Mnet's "Kingdom" without Hyunjin

Since Hyunjin is currently inactive in group activities, Stray Kids will proceed with the recordings for Mnet's upcoming competition show "Kingdom" without him. In particular, the second round of recording is said to take place today, March 9, and the boy band will participate with only seven members.

The first round of filming was completed on Feb. 23, and Hyunjin was still present at that time. However, it was decided that his parts will be edited out without affecting the whole episode. The first episode of Mnet's "Kingdom: Legendary War" is scheduled to air on April 1.

Mnet's "Kingdom: Legendary War" is a male counterpart of their previous female competition show "Queendom." Aside from Stray Kids, other competing groups are The Boyz, ATEEZ, iKON, BTOB, and SF9. On Feb. 29, the 100-second group introduction performances of the contestants were aired via Mnet's YouTube channel.

The songs the groups performed were: "Miroh" (Stray Kids), "Wave: Overturned" (ATEEZ), "Beautiful Pain" (BTOB), "Good Guy" (SF9), "The Stealer" (The Boyz), and "Rhythm Ta" (iKON).

Stray Kids Members to Continue as Models for CLIO, Except Hyunjin

The participation in Mnet's "Kingdom" is the second activity of Stray Kids to have only seven members active. The JYP Entertainment boy group is also the current model for Clio Cosmetics. But since Hyunjin is unable to participate in the modeling activities as he is on hiatus at the moment, the brand decided to continue the collaboration with the band's seven active members.
