BTS's 'Dynamite' Makes It to IFPI's 'Global Digital Single Chart 2020'

BTS's hit English song "Dynamite" has scored yet another achievement! This time, the track has been chosen as one of the biggest singles in the world in 2020 by IFPI - it is the only song by a Korean act to be included in the top 10 list.

Each year, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (usually known as the IFPI) sums up the songs' sales and streams all over the world and ranks them on its main charts: the Global Artist Chart, the Single Chart, and the Album Chart.

BTS's "Dynamite" Ranks on IFPI's "Global Digital Single Chart 2020"

On March 9 (local time), IFPI has revealed the "definitive list of the global top 10 biggest singles" of 2020, or the "Global Digital Single Chart 2020." The rankings are based on a song's audio streams, video streams, and downloads throughout the year.

In spite of being released only four months before 2020 concluded, BTS's "Dynamite" was able to accumulate impressive sales, streams, and downloads to claim the No. 10 spot of IFPI's "Global Digital Single Chart 2020." It is the youngest song and BTS's first entry on the chart. According to IFPI, BTS's "Dynamite" collected a total of 1.28 billion subscription stream equivalents in 2020, specifically in just four months.

On top of this, the Big Hit Entertainment boy group becomes the second Korean act to make it to the said rankings. The first Korean artist to rank is PSY in 2012 with his world-famous track "Gangnam Style," which took the No. 3 position.

BTS Named as the "Global Recording Artist of the Year 2020" by IFPI

IFPI previously revealed the "Global Artist Chart," which totals the single sales (physical and digital), as well as the album sales and streams within that year to determine the most successful artists in the world. Big Hit Entertainment's seven-piece boy band successfully ranked No. 1 on the said chart and was officially crowned the "Global Recording Artist of the Year 2020."

BTS's "Dynamite" Has Now spent 200 Days on the Global Spotify Chart

In other news, BTS's 2020 hit song is now spending its 200th day on the Global Spotify Chart, becoming the second song of the group to achieve this feat after "Boy With Luv." This makes the Big Hit boy group the very first Korean artist to have two songs to reach this mark.
