Last 2020, VERIVERY made noise as they debuted atop the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart with "G.B.T.B." Now, with "SERIES 'O' [ROUND 1: HALL], the seven-piece K-Pop boy group is set to return to the global charts once again.
An article from Forbes noted the VERIVERY smash hit last year, a surprise since the group has never broken through the global charts regularly populated by K-Pop artists ever since they debuted in 2019. A commercial and critical success, "G.B.T.B" - the title track for their 5th EP "FACE US" - also landed near the Top 40 of the all-genre Digital Song Sales List, which is an achievement so rare even among the biggest K-Pop acts of today.
In a new interview, Forbes contributor Hugh McIntyre interviewed the VERIVERY members - Dongheon, Hoyoung, Minchan, Gyehyeon, Yeonho, Yongseung, and Kangmin - on their resounding success in the states and the talks of their group.
When asked what it means for the group to start seeing them charting in the United States, Kangmin began by noting how honorable it was for them, believing that the achievement is a gift from their fanbase - the VERRER. "So from now on and at that moment, we felt that this is the time we have to put more efforts, for the present and the future so that we can have great results," the VERIVERY maknae added.
As for their latest project, "SERIES 'O' [ROUND 1: HALL]," Hoyoung explains that it is a continuation of their story as told from the previous release," FACE it." Furthermore, this album is the first installment of their new "Series 'O'," about "discovering and facing the dark side of us," adding how the latest MV is about being invited to and "enjoying a crazy party."
Hoyoung adds that while the "FACE it" series delivered a more straightforward message, their new project will be tackling more symbolism, going deeper and learning about the darkness inside everyone. Additionally, he notes how the symbol 'O,' which was prominent in the music video for the SERIES 'O' [ROUND 1: HALL] title track, "Get Away," actually has no single meaning - leaving everyone to come up with and offer their own interpretation of the symbol.
"We thought that 'O' was an infinite space where we could fill with different images of us to show our fans," Hoyoung added.
On the other hand, Yeonho adds that they got inspiration while doing promotion for their previous album, making the new album an extension of the "FACE it" series in a sense. Also, he shares that they aim to show their group's variety, adding a new clue to their mysterious persona.
