BTS continues to dominate the world with their excellent music and breathtaking performance. On Wednesday, March 17, the Big Hit Entertainment-formed group made another achievement after they got their first double-platinum certification in the United States.
BTS Finally Gets Its First U.S. Double-Platinum Certification
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced that "Dynamite" by BTS has been certified gold, platinum and double platinum recently. This is the very first time that Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, Jungkook, Suga, RM and V reached such a milestone.
For starters, the double-platinum certification is only given to those tracks that are able to reach at least 2 million sold copies, downloads, and streams. BTS was, previously, awarded platinum certifications with their songs "Love Yourself: Answer," "MIC Drop," "Idol" and "Boy with Luv." The "Map of the Soul: 7" album also holds a platinum certification.
In February, Gaon also awarded BTS a platinum certification for their chart-topping track "Dynamite." At the time, the said song was able to garner more than 100 million digital streams.
Aside from RIAA's double-platinum certification, "Dynamite" by BTS also reached another milestone after Guinness World Records pronounced it as the song with the "most simultaneous viewers for a music video on YouTube Premieres."
Recordkeepers divulged that "Dynamite" already set the mark in 2020 after its official music video generated more than three million viewers at the same time. They even teased that Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, Jungkook, Suga, RM, and V are likely to have a nice spread in the imminent new Guinness book. So, should watch out for that soon!
Aside from the U.S., "Dynamite" also got platinum certifications in Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, Japan, and South Korea. The popular BTS track also garnered gold certifications in United Kingdom, France, Poland, Belgium, Mexico, Greece, and Japan.
