GOT7's Jay B Reveals He is Suffering From Clinical Depression

During an interview with ARENA Magazine, it was revealed that Jay B had medications for depression and panic disorder in his bag, which he showed to fans in a "What's in my bag?" video. The publication then asked him when did he realize he was suffering from depression.

According to Jay B, he was not initially aware he had depression. Instead, he thought his mind was weaker than others and that it would pass. However, after undergoing examination, he received his diagnosis and found out he had clinical depression.

During the examination, Jay B was asked how he was living without coming to visit a psychiatrist, and he honestly revealed that he was a sad and depressed person. Jay B was then informed that though he is not the type to show his feelings, his depression was at the state in which he needed treatment.

Now that he is taking medication and undergoing therapy, he feels much better. ARENA Magazine applauded Jay B for his courage.

In response, Jay B revealed that he became more observant of the people around him after he was diagnosed. He became aware that there are people around him who are ashamed of their depression and try to hide it, and how there are people who also speak about their depression as if it is no big deal.

I just wanted to say it," Jay B confesses. "Though it is not that noticeable, depression is a very common yet very dangerous illness. Mental illness is an illness too. If one of my fans or just anyone who reads this interview feels depressed, I hope that they will not be ashamed of it and overcome the illness while undergoing treatment. It is not something to be ashamed of, and there is no need to hide it. Also, I cannot lie about the stuff in my bag while a 'What's in my bag?' video, right? I hope that everyone can be lying.

In response to Jay B's statement claiming he wanted to be honest about his mental health, ARENA Magazine asked if he was bad at lying. Jay B revealed that he is not a good liar and would rather not talk if he had to lie.

The GOT7 leader says that he is the type who is honest, straightforward, and hates beating around the busy.

The publication then asked Jay B for one tip that could make his state better.

Jay B replied, "Look at the world with your eyes wide open. Know that there are lots of places you have not yet been to and that there are many things you have not yet felt. While taking a walk, it is also good to go with the route you have not yet taken."

The idol recommends going on small adventures that could excite your daily life, such as going outside. "I believe that there are many chances for you to feel refreshed outdoors rather than indoors," he explains.

Jay B also states that one thing that helps his depression is by being more honest and have more faith in himself. "At times like this, you should think more about yourself rather than other people."
