Ladies' Code Ashley recently revealed that she had expectations after making her debut in the K-pop industry, but she ended up being facing the reality of being a K-pop idol, which, of course, she didn't expect to be that way.
Being a K-pop idol is like a dream come true especially for aspiring singers. Many people would view their lives as something incredible and easy, but that's not really the case, according to Ladies' Code Ashley.
Ladies' Code Ashley Shares the "Expectations vs Reality" She Experienced after Debuting as a K-pop Idol
In the latest GET REAL podcast episode uploaded to "DIVE Studios" YouTube channel, Ladies' Code Ashley, BTOB Peniel, Leah Kim, and KARD BM discuss the realities of being a K-pop idol.
During the talk, Ashley confessed that she had a lot of expectations of being a celebrity. She first shared the time when she was still a trainee.

Ladies' Code Ashley detailed, "I was first at CUBE [Entertainment] as a trainee, and this was when I was there for like a year and usually, the trainee contract is for three years. And they didn't have any plans on debuting a girl group anytime soon and I wasn't even sure if I was gonna be in that one because everyone else was so much younger than me."
She added that she was the oldest trainee at that time and the second-oldest trainee was two years younger than her - Ashley was born in 1991, and the rest were '96 and '97 liners.
Since the other trainees were cutesy, she felt like she didn't have a chance of debuting with that kind of concept.

Luckily, Ilkwang Polaris (Polaris Entertainment) went to CUBE and asked if they could let Ashley be part of the girl group they will debut the following year, and that's what happened.
But before making her debut, Ladies' Code Ashley shared that the company treated her like a family in the beginning and that they would go out to eat and drink every day. They even barely practiced, according to her. Since it appears like there was no stress at that time, Ashley found her preparation for her debut fun.
And when she finally made her debut, her thoughts were that they were "gonna make money" and "live in nice houses." Ashley went on to say that she thought that her life was going to be smooth and they got everything under control.
However, she experienced having "no sleep," "working every single day," "not being able to eat," and "just feeling tired all the time," - and this is the reality of being a K-pop idol.

"I didn't know it was going to be like that, you know," Ashley remarked. Leah Kim commented how funny it is that the reality is far from the expectations of people, including your friends.
Leah then shared that her friends in New York would send her messages telling her that her life is amazing since she finally got the dream she always wanted.
However, she stressed that "It's not like that at all" and that she is broke and is often thinking when the money would come in.
