BLACKPINK Rosé to Drop 'Gone' Music Video on April 5

YG Entertainment to Release BLACKPINK Rosé's Music Video for "Gone"

On Wednesday, Mar. 31, YG Entertainment announced through BLACKPINK's official social media accounts that they would be dropping the music video for Rosé's b-sidetrack "Gone" on Apr. 5.

Previously, on Jan. 25, YG Entertainment released a "Coming Soon" teaser for Rosé's solo debut, which featured Rosé singing a snippet of the track.

Rosé first performed "Gone" prior to her official debut as a solo stage in BLACKPINK's first online concert, "BLACKPINK: THE SHOW," on Jan. 31. She performed "Gone" alongside "On The Ground" while promoting on music shows.

"Gone" is a soft rock and indie rock ballad which focuses on the electric guitar sound.

According to the producers, "Gone" is more mellow than "On the Ground," and the track featured a "stripped-back" sound that is built around strummed guitar chords.

Lyrically, "Gone" is a heartfelt breakup song that revolves around someone that is still in love with their ex that has moved on. According to Rosé, she was able to be herself while recording the song.

The singer added that "Gone" was recorded two years ago. She helped write the lyrics for the song, as well as the lyrics for "On the Ground." This marks Rosé's first time officially working as a songwriter.

The Success of BLACKPINK Rosé's Single Album "-R-"

Within the first four days, "-R-" received 400,000 pre-orders, making it the best-selling single album by a South Korean female solo artist.

On Mar. 15, it was reported that "-R-" garnered half a million pre-orders. Of the half a million pre-orders, 400,000 came from CDs, 48,000 came from the "-R-" kit, and 52,000 came from vinyl sales.

On Mar. 17, Hanteo reported that the single album broke the records of first-week sales among female soloists, selling 280,000 copies just one day after its physical release.

In China, the single album was a massive success, selling 1,000,000 digital downloads within just two days of its release.

Additionally, "-R-" peaked at the top of QQ Music's digital album sales chart. QQ Music is China's biggest music-streaming service. The single album also ranked at the number one spot on Kugou Music and Kuwo Music, two other major music sites in China.

"-R-" set the record for the highest first-week sales by a South Korean female soloist, selling 448,089 within the first week of the single album's release. The physical edition of "-R-" went on to debut at the number two spot on the Gaon Album Chart. The kit version of "-R-" debuted at number seven.

The music video for "On the Ground" amassed over 41.6 million views within the first 24 hours of its release, making it the most viewed music video b a South Korean soloist in 24 hours, breaking PSY's eight-year record for "Gentleman."

"On the Ground" debuted at number 70 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the highest-charting song by a South Korean female soloist in the United States.

"On the Ground" peaked at number one on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. The U.S. Charts.
