What is the Genius Charts?

The Genius Chart is a ranking that shows how interested listeners to a song's lyrics and the meaning behind the song based on total page views and concurrent page views. The Genius Chart does not consider streams, sales, or how high the song charted on other music sites and charts.

BLACKPINK Jennie's "SOLO" is the Most Popular Song by a K-Pop Soloist on Genius

Taking the throne is South Korea's "It Girl" herself, Jennie of BLACKPINK, with her solo debut, "SOLO." "SOLO" was released on Nov. 12, 2018. According to Jennie, "SOLO" wanted to express showing your true self after a break-up. During her debut showcase, Jennie said, "When you are dating someone, you tend to present yourself in the way the other person wants rather than your true self. I wanted to express that feeling. Rather than the heart being wounded after a break-up, I wanted to express myself more freely."

Kang Kyung Yoon from SBS also noted that the song follows two themes — a weak, introverted girl and an independent and strong woman.

"SOLO" debuted at the top on the Gaon Digital Chart and stayed within the top ten for thirteen consecutive weeks. "SOLO" was the 35th best-performing song of 2019 in South Korea. In the United States, "SOLO" debuted at the top of the World Digital Song Sales Chart.

BIGBANG Taeyang's "Eyes, Nose, Lips" is the Most Popular Song by a Male K-Pop Songs on Genius

After Jennie is fellow YG Entertainment labelmate, Taeyang of BIGBANG, for his 2014 release "Eyes, Nose, Lips." In an interview with Billboard, Taeyang revealed the song is based on his personal experiences and is the main reason why they wanted to release the album "Rise." According to Taeyang, the song talks about missing an old lover and reminiscing about their eyes, nose, and lips.

Upon the song's release, "Eyes, Nose, Lips" debuted at number one on Gaon's Digital Charts and Gaon's Download Charts. "Eyes, Nose, Lips' debuted at number 34 on the K-Pop Hot 100 chart but leaped to number one the following week. "Eyes, Nose, Lips" is the second best-performing single of 2014 in South Korea.
