GFRIEND, LOONA, MOMOLAND, & More to Perform at 2021 Online K-pop Concerts in May
On April 26, the mayor of Gangnam-gu, Seoul announced that they plan to host an online K-pop concert featuring four sets of idol groups, which will be a mixture of girl and boy bands.
Titled "2021 On-Tact G-K-pop Concert," a total of four K-pop concerts will be hosted in May, one every Saturday with three K-pop groups. In the first broadcast on May 8, GFRIEND will be attending the event along with A.C.E and rookie group T1419.
GFRIEND is currently communicating with fans through their reality show called "GFriend's Memoria," which is aired via Weverse, V Live, and YouTube. The girl group's latest comeback is with their third studio album titled "Walpurgis Night," featuring the lead single "Mago."

On the May 15 K-pop concert, MLD Entertainment's MOMOLAND will be taking the stage together with rookie boy bands VERIVERY and CRAVITY.
MOMOLAND's latest release is their third single album, "Ready or Not," which was launched in November 2020. P NATION's PSY took part as a lyricist on the album's title track of the same name. This past February, the female act collaborated with CHROMANCE on the track "Wrap Me in Plastic."

On the May 22 broadcast, viewers can expect performances by LOONA and new K-pop groups NewKidd and Weeekly.
Last year, LOONA achieved new milestones with their third extended play "12:00" (midnight), and their track "Star." The EP is the band's bestselling album to date. "12:00" debuted at No. 4 on the Gaon Album Chart and becomes their first album to land on the Billboard 200.
Meanwhile, "Star" becomes their first entry on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40, making LOONA the second K-pop girl group to make it to the chart, after BLACKPINK.

At the K-pop concert on May 29, Korean acts such as VICTON, LABOUM, and the new K-pop boy group Ciipher will greet the viewers.
Recently, LABOUM saw slight popularity in South Korea. Their songs, including "Journey to Atlantis," have been climbing up the domestic charts. They are the second K-pop group to experience a reverse run, following Brave Girls.

All four K-pop concerts will be broadcast through the YouTube channels: "Gangnam-gu Office" and "1theK," and the social video application, Triller. It will start at 8 p.m. KST every Saturday.
Singer-songwriter Sandeul will serve as the host for the shows. The recordings have already taken place from April 4 to 6 at the COEX auditorium performance hall.
The events will be held as part of saving the performing arts industry, which was affected by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. The mayor of Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Jeong Soon Gyun expressed his hope of the 2021 online K-pop concerts delivering a message of comfort and encouragement to people around the world during this difficult time.
