BLACKPINK Beats Girls' Generation on Pandora + Joins Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish on Best-Selling Albums List

BLACKPINK continues to dominate the music world with their chart-topping tracks and top-selling albums. On Friday, May 7, it was reported that the YG Entertainment-former group has made new records on Pandora and Spotify, proving that they are the world's biggest all-female band.

BLACKPINK Earns New Title After Surpassing Girls' Generation on Pandora

BLACKPINK just made another milestone after it beat the record of Girls' Generation on Pandora. According to reports, the quartet already garnered a total of 91.1 million lifetime streams on the said music platform.

Because of that, BLACKPINK was pronounced as the most streamed K-pop female group on Pandora. Girls' Generation, for their part, has recorded a total of 81.1 million lifetime streams as of late.

Not only that because BLACKPINK also earned another record on Spotify. As a group, Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé has already generated more than 5.1 billion streams on Spotify. The said feat just made them the first K-pop female act and the fastest girl group in history to achieve such a milestone.

BLACKPINK also garnered more than 16 billion streams on YouTube worldwide. Aside from that, the group also recorded more than 1.6 billion streams on Melon, 573 million streams on Genie, 74.9 million streams on Joox and 19.8 million streams on Anghami.

If that is not enough, BLACKPINK is also among the most followed female music artists on social media and streaming platforms. It was divulged that the "Lovesick Girls" singers have garnered a total of 163.5 million combined followers on Spotify, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat and Deezer.

Aside from BLACKPINK, other female artists who made it to the list include Ariana Grande with 516.8 million combined followers, Selena Gomez with 474.1 million combined followers, Taylor Swift with 411.4 million combined followers, Rihanna with 390.6 million combined followers, Katy Perry with 367.5 million combined followers, Shakira with 308.4 million combined followers and Beyonce with 308.4 million combined followers among others.

BLACKPINK's 'The Album' Among the Best-Selling Female Albums This Year

Meanwhile, "The Album" by BLACKPINK was listed as one of the best-selling female albums in the United States in 2021 so far. The latest EP of the South Korean girl group secured the No. 9 spot.

"Fearless (Taylor's Version" by Taylor Swift dominated the list, followed by "My Savior" by Carrie Underwood in the No. 2 spot. "folklore" and "evermore," which is both by Taylor Swift, nabbed the No. 3 and No. 4 ranks. "Chemtrails Over the Country Club" by Lana del Rey wrapped up the Top 5. Other albums that made include "WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?" by Billie Eilish, "Positions" by Ariana Grande, "dont smile at me" by Billie Eilish and "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse.

The inclusion of BLACKPINK in the best-selling female albums of 2021 list is a clear indication that the group has expanded their reach outside South Korea. Add to that the fact that they continue to break records after records with their trending tracks and albums.
