Nowadays, the brand deals someone gets are an indicator of a stars' popularity. Numerous stars show off how famous they are by bagging CFs and brand deals.
Among them, global luxury brands, which are recognized in South Korea and worldwide, prove that Hallyu stars are famous both in South Korea and internationally.
Here are K-pop idols most loved by luxury brands, according to South Korean news outlet Single List.
BTS, EXO, and More: These are the Male Idols Most Loved By Luxury Brands
A male idol group loved by luxury brands in BTS, who gained worldwide popularity with their numerous releases charting on the Billboard Charts. Specifically, BTS broke through the Western market when "Dynamite" debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, leading to the group's first Grammy nomination for "Best Pop Duo/Group."
The boy group recently proved their influence by being selected as Louis Vuitton's global brand ambassador back in Apr. 2021
Numerous EXO members were selected by Single List. Specifically, Baekhyun, Kai, and Sehun were selected as idols loved by luxury brands.
In 2020, Baekhyun was chosen as Burberry brand ambassador for South Korea, and had shown off his partnership with the brand on his social media accounts.
He's also the co-director of the streetwear label, Privé Alliance.
Kai, on the other hand, represents both Gucci and Bobbi Brown. Kai is the male global ambassador for Gucci Eyewear and is the muse for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics (and the first-ever male endorser of the brand at that!).
Sehun has been the face of Dior Men since Oct. 2020.
The EXO's youngest also represented Cartier Korea and Berluti Korea. In 2020, he participated in Pasha de Cartier's digital project. In the same year, he was officially announced as the ambassador for the luxury cosmetics brand, Dr. Jart+.
Sehun is also the global ambassador for Zegna.
Another male idol loved by luxury brands is NU'EST's Minhyun.
In 2019, Minhyun was selected as Jo Malone's first South Korean ambassador. He recently renewed his contract with the brand for three years, showing his influence.
In 2021, he was also revealed to be a brand ambassador for Moncler.
The next idol to be mentioned is MONSTA X's Shownu.
In Oct. 2020, the idol appeared on the back cover of 1st Look Magazine Korea to promote the Moschino Toy Perfume. Following the magazine's release, the perfume sold out in South Korea and ranked at the top of the perfume brand ranking. This led to Shownu being appointed as the new muse for Moschino perfume.
The last male idol mentioned is Kang Daniel. In 2019, Kang Daniel was selected as the global brand model for Givenchy Beauty.
In 2020, he scored another deal with Givenchy and now represents the luxury brand's perfume lines.
BLACKPINK and aespa are the Female Idols Loved by Luxury Brands
Singles List named all of the BLACKPINK members as idols loved by luxury brands, and it is no surprise why. All the members of global brand ambassadors of international fashion houses. Jisoo was named the global brand ambassador for Dior in Mar. 2021, and recently made headlines for inspiring the French brand's latest Fall 2021 collection.
Jennie, on the other hand, is the global brand ambassador for Chanel. She started off representing Chanel Korea Beauty and was soon made their global brand ambassador due to the idol's loyalty to the fashion house and her overall impact and influence.
Rosé was named the global brand ambassador for Yves Saint Laurent in 2020, making her the brand's first global ambassador in 59 years. In 2020, she was named as the muse for Yves Saint Laurent Beauté.
Lisa represents numerous luxury brands. In Sept. 2020, Lisa was named the global brand ambassador for French luxury brand Celine. In Jul. 2020, it was announced that Lisa was selected as the latest brand ambassador for Bulgari, an Italian luxury brand. The Thai idol is also the face of MAC Cosmetics, a high-end make-up brand.
The final idols mentioned by Singles List is SM Entertainment's rookie girl group, aespa! Just three months after their debut, aespa was named as the 2021 brand ambassadors for Givenchy. This is the first time Givenchy selected a K-pop artist to represent their main brand.
