SM Entertainment Confirms Red Velvet Joy's Solo Debut

Following reports that Red Velvet member Joy is preparing for her solo debut, SM Entertainment released a statement on the matter.

Keep on reading for all the details.

Red Velvet Member Joy to Make Solo Debut

On Wednesday, May 12, SM Entertainment confirmed that Red Velvet member Joy is gearing up for her solo debut!

The label released a short statement, saying that Joy is currently preparing to make a remake album. They have not revealed any release date nor debut schedule and have stated that they will release a detailed schedule very soon.

None of the songs will be original songs. A remake album is when an artist received permission from another to cover their tracks and release their own version of it.

One prominent example of a successful remake album is IU's fourth mini-album, "A Flower Bookmark." Seven of the songs in the album are famous releases from the 1980s and 1990s. It is currently not stated which songs Joy will be covering for her album.

Prior to SM Entertainment's official announcement, Star News released an exclusive report stating that Joy will be making her solo debut by the end of May with a solo album.
