EXO member Xiumin has accepted the offer to star in the Tony Award-winning musical "Hadestown"!
EXO Xiumin to Play the Lead in Musical "Hadestown"
On May 14, EXO announced that Xiumin has been confirmed as one of the cast members for the popular musical "Hadestown."
"Hadestown" is a well-known and critically acclaimed musical that tells the Greek myth about Orpheus going to the underworld to rescue his fiancée, Eurydice. Orpheus is a prophet, an iconic musician, and a poet in ancient Greek religion. He is known to be clumsy yet he always sees the best in everyone and dreams big.
In addition, the musical is an adaptation of the concept album of singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell, also titled "Hadestown." The play takes place during the Great Depression, and since it premiered in the United States, it has won eight Tony Awards and received 14 nominations.

In the Greek musical "Hadestown," EXO Xiumin will play the role of Orpheus, along with Joh Yeonggyun and Bak Gangyeon. Other cast members can be found on the "Hadestown" Instagram account created by Korean performance producer S&Co, who will be working on the upcoming musical.
Previously, S&Co. produced the Korean tour stages of "The Lion King," "The Phantom of the Opera," "Cats," and more.
This is not the first time that EXO member Xiumin will take the theatrical stage. Back in 2015, he starred in the holographic musical "School OZ" as Aquila, one of the supporting roles.
In 2019, he played the role of Kim Seungho in the army musical "Return: The Promise of the Day."

Then, last year, Xiumin was again cast in the said army musical but as Hyunmin. The play is about the excavation of the remains of the heroic soldiers who fought during the Korean War.
Meanwhile, the musical "Hadestown" is set to premiere in August at LG Art Center in Seoul, South Korea.
EXO Xiumin's 2021 Activities So Far Following Military Discharge
Starting from May 2019, EXO member Xiumin has been inactive in the K-pop industry as he was fulfilling his mandatory military service as an active-duty soldier. He took his final military leave in November last year and did not head back to the army in line with the military's policy on COVID-19. Xiumin was officially discharged on Dec. 6.
Since completing his military service, EXO Xiumin has been a bit busy. On Jan. 31, he released an OST titled "To My One and Only You" for the hit drama "Mr. Queen," which concluded on Feb. 14. On March 27, Xiumin held an online solo fan meeting, "ON: XIUWEET TIME," as a post-birthday celebration.

Besides these, the "Growl" singer has already appeared on different variety shows after his military discharge, including MBC's "Where Is My Home" and JTBC's "Hurrah for Independence."
On April 16, EXO member Xiumin has been chosen to be one of the official hosts of the Channel S show "Drink with God," also known as "Night with Shin." He will be joining Shin Dong Yup, Park Sun Young, and Lee Young Jin. This variety show features having a drink with Shin Dong Yup while listening to concerns and stories sent in by viewers.
