NCT Dream Becomes the First SM Artist and Third K-pop Group to Achieve This First-Week Album Sales Record

NCT Dream, who recently released their comeback album "Hot Sauce," has attained an impressive first-week album sales record on Hanteo Chart, making them the third K-pop group to do so.

NCT Dream Becomes the First Artist under SM Entertainment to Attain This First-Week Album Sales Record

On May 16, Hanteo Chart announced how many copies of NCT Dream's "Hot Sauce" were sold in the first week since the album's release on May 10. The album recorded more than one million copies as of 8:20 p.m. KST on that day.

Hanteo Chart said that as of 9:50 p.m. KST on May 16, "Hot Sauce" has a cumulative album sales of 1,009,537 copies.

Because of this, NCT Dream has become the very first artist under SM Entertainment to achieve this milestone.

The septet has also become the youngest act to do so, with eldest member Mark at 21 years old and youngest member Jisung at 19.

On May 17, Hanteo Chart announced that NCT Dream's "Hot Sauce" has now sold 1,010,766 copies. This record shows an increase of almost 600,000 copies compared to the first-week album sales of their fourth mini-album "RELOAD," which only had 412,458 copies.

Upon hearing the news of NCT Dream's achievement, fans took to Twitter to trend the hashtags "#NCTDREAM1MAlbumsParty" and "#NCTDREAM_Congratulations_on_Million_Seller," along with numerous congratulatory messages.

Hanteo Chart will be issuing the certificate of one million Initial Chodong sales (first-week album sales) to SM Entertainment's boy group.

NCT Joins BTS and SEVENTEEN as the Only K-pop Group to Record this First-Week Album Sales

On top of that, Hanteo Chart revealed that NCT Dream is now the third K-pop group to record more than one million in the first week of sales, following BTS and SEVENTEEN.

BTS has a total of four albums with over one million first-week sales records. The septet's first album to attain this feat is their 2018 full-length album "LOVE YOURSELF: TEAR," which sold 1,003,141 copies in the first seven days.

The second one is their 2016 mini-album "MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA," which recorded a whopping 2,130,480 copies sold in the first week. BTS's third album to surpass one million copies is their 2020 full-length album "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7," which had an outstanding first-week album sales record of 3,378,633.

BTS's latest album to obtain the milestone is their seventh mini-album "BE," which was dropped on Nov. 11 last year. "BE" sold a total of 2,274,882 copies in the first week.

As for SEVENTEEN, the Pledis Entertainment boy group has one album that exceeded one million copies, and it is their seventh mini-album "Heng:garæ." The extended play recorded a first-week album sales of 1,097,891.

Furthermore, Hanteo Chart unveiled that NCT Dream's "Hot Sauce" is now the fifth album with the highest album sales in the first week. The first to third places in the rankings are BTS's albums - "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7," "BE," and "MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA." And the fourth spot goes to SEVENTEEN's "Heng:garæ." The previous holder of the fifth position is BTS's "LOVE YOURSELF: TEAR."
